GB Howe Elementary Community School

GB Howe Elementary Community School Howe supports all children to feel safe physically, socially, emotionally, and academically. Partnership in Comprehensive Literacy—Workshop Model. Mathematics.

In order for successful learning to occur, we have been focusing on the following items that help to support each individual learner to be their very best:

We are a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) school. Howe Hero focuses on creating a positive and engaging learning environment. Our four areas of focus are: Being Honorable, Engaged, Respectful and Organized. Howe participates in t

he use of the latest and best researched-based literacy instruction to provide the same basic instruction to all students, and then provides support to meet each child at their individual learning level. This model allows ALL students to be challenged and is designed to provide whole group, small group, and individual instruction for each child. Our staff collaborates with colleagues using student data to make sure we are providing the seamless and quality instruction that each child deserves. Howe’s math program uses the district-adopted Math Expressions curriculum. Howe’s staff is working to create a workshop model that will provide each learner with the opportunity to receive additional instruction and practice on the areas that child struggles to master. Parent/Family Involvement. Howe offers one monthly family event that focuses on providing an opportunity for a positive family activity that revolves around learning. These opportunities also provide students and families opportunity to get to know your child’s friends and their families. Family and School Connection. We have an informal parent organization. We are always looking for families that are able to donate a little time. We can always use volunteers to pop popcorn, count milk caps and box tops, assist in the classroom, help at school events and other activities. We could not do it without you. Adopt an area of the school. Classrooms have adopted areas of the school to assist with keeping the school clean and also teaching the importance of taking pride in your school. Please help to support our efforts. Notables:
A staff that puts student learning needs as its highest priority. An After School Program that is affiliated with the “YMCA” and off site “YWCA” program. More than 70 volunteers assist our students on a weekly basis. Howe continues to show steady growth in closing the achievement gaps. Howe has a wonderful, diverse population. A school that focuses on self-regulation, problem-solving and collaboration. We collaborate daily regarding meeting the needs of our students. We have monthly family events. We partner with the Howe Family Resource Center to support our families.
