Back to school should be a positive time for families, but with the Child Care
Bridge Payments now ended, many working families are facing even higher child care costs on budgets that are already stretched thin. For parents, that can mean difficult choices about work hours, household expenses, and whether they can afford the care they need.
Child care is a necessity, not a luxury. Without continued support, 1 in 4 providers reported that they were likely to close or significantly reduce services When parents cannot find or afford child care, the consequences follow them to
work. They may have to reduce their hours, miss shifts, turn down opportunities, or leave their jobs altogether. Employers lose workers, providers struggle to remain open, and local economies suffer Affordable, reliable child care supports families, strengthens Wisconsin's workforce, and keeps our economy moving!
