Last week the Dragonslayers acknowledged the superior service and effort of two of our sailors. First, NC1 Elie received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and Achievement Medal, for her leadership and dedication to service as the Command Career Counselor from August of 2022 to May of 2026. NC1's efforts and trainings led to an increase in command retention, qualifications, awards, and promotions, so much, so she was acknowledged by the Wing and was selected as the Career Counselor of the year for fiscal year 2024 and fiscal year 2025.
Secondly, AM3 Massa was recognized with a Safety Professional Award for his superior situational awareness as a work center Colleterial Duty Inspector, where his actions prevented a potential mishap during flight operations. As warfighters we do an inherently dangerous job, and we need people like AM3 who are dedicated to safety to ensure the continued success of all HSC-11 Personnel 🐉⚡️

Introducing the official mascots of the Dragonslayers, the axolotls, Speed and Violence. S&V came to us two years ago prior to work ups, and went with the squadron on deployment to the Red Sea. They are native to Lake Xochimilco and Lake Chalco near Mexico City. They are unique amphibians and can regenerate lost limbs, jaws, spinal cord, and other organs!

The Dragonslayers welcomed RDML Young Commander, Carrier Strike Group Eight (CCSG-8), into our spaces! RDML Young went from shop to shop and spoke to sailors about daily operations, answered any questions they had, and recognized the superior performance of some of our best Slayers.

Last week the teams of Pilots and Aircrew competed in the NHA Aircrew Challenge, an all day physical exercise. Dragonslayers push to maintain the highest levels of physical and mental toughness!🐉⚡️

After completion of his last fight as the CO of HSC-11, CDR Brett “Bronto” Ballard received overwhelming fires from local and JOPA forces. We wish him clear skies and good winds at his next station.

Shoutout to the HSC-11 Maintenance Department for being awarded the Carrier Air Wing One Golden Wrench Award for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026!!! Dragonslayers lead from the front! 🐉⚡️

This past weekend we had some motivated Dragon Slayers🐉⚡️volunteer their time to help cleanup the local Oceanview Beach! They braved a cold weekend to help ensure our community has a beautiful beach to enjoy this summer and for many to come!!

The Slayer 🐉⚡️ family celebrates our sailors recent achievements with the reenlistment and frocking of HM2 O’Connor, AO3 Nuñez-Sanchez, and AT2 Valdivia, and the promotion of LT Kellner! Congratulations Slayers and keep the drive up showing why the Dragon Slayers are the best squadron in the Navy!

This week the Dragon Slayers🐉⚡️ send a heartfelt goodbye to our Command Master Chief Tito Santa Cruz and welcome our new CMC Daquann Woodall! We look forward to all leadership and experience Master Chief Woodall brings as we welcome him to the Slayer Family!!!
