Norwood Fire Company is proud to recognize five of our members who successfully completed the Water Rescue & Emergency Response (WRER) course.

Over the course of the training, our members, along with students from several neighboring agencies, demonstrated dedication, teamwork, and a commitment to expanding their skills. Through realistic, hands-on scenarios, participants strengthened their water rescue knowledge, refined critical rescue techniques, and worked together to successfully complete all required practical evolutions.

This joint training was an outstanding opportunity to train alongside fellow first responders, build lasting relationships, and enhance our region's overall water rescue capabilities.

We would like to thank all of the participating agencies for their commitment to training and regional cooperation:

A special thank you to Aston Township Fire Department for providing Water Rescue PPE to several participating agencies. Their willingness to share resources ensured everyone had the equipment necessary to safely participate in the hands-on training. This type of mutual aid and cooperation is what makes the fire and EMS service so strong.

Norwood Fire Company would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to WhiteCap Water Rescue Training, LLC for delivering a professional and engaging training program. The knowledge, experience, and instruction provided throughout the course have helped better prepare our members to respond safely and effectively to water rescue incidents.

Congratulations again to our five members on earning their Water Rescue & Emergency Response certification. We are proud of your hard work and dedication to continuing your education in service to our community.

Temperatures today will be cooler than the last few days, and humidity will also be lower. Dry conditions will also prevail. Unfortunately, wildfire smoke from Canada will remain.

This is your reminder to continue to stay hydrated and stay out of the heat if you don’t need to be in it. Also, our area is being affected by the smoke and the haze being created from the Canadian wildfires. This will affect populations who are sensitive or have breathing issues.

If you need the assistance the county has established cooling centers throughout the county. Please help to keep an eye on sensitive populations who may need assistance. Please use 911 services accordingly and stay safe!

Yesterday was a busy day for Norwood Fire crews. We responded to a house fire on Circle Lane in Norwood and assisted Folsom Fire Company Station 18 on a house fire in Folsom. If you’re interested in volunteering please send us a message. We are always looking for members to help serve Norwood and surrounding communities.

The officers and members of Norwood Fire Company want to share our condolences for the loss of John "Big J" McCans who served as a past chief at station 67 and was was a member since 2005. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and members as they navigate this loss.
