I talked at length recently in my State of the City address about Oklahoma City’s population growth. One fact I shared is that we are on the verge of doubling our 1970 population.

Our growing size now and in the next 25 years has ramifications for us regardless of how our growth compares to other cities, but I still thought it would be interesting to see how our growth compares to the other top 50 U.S. cities.

Since 1970, the United States has grown by 68%. Oklahoma City has grown by 96.4%. Here’s how all the current top 50 cities have changed since 1970, in order of percentage growth (or decline).

Since 2023, film projects have driven more than $91 million in local spending and continue to support hundreds of crew members, businesses and creative professionals across the region.

The Oklahoma National Guard Museum has officially opened its doors in Oklahoma City’s Adventure District, showcasing more than a century of service from the Oklahoma Army and Air National Guard.
