Happy Friday! We love road work! We almost love it more than when the road works!

Here's some favorites from this week:
-Termon Ave's traffic calming is getting touched up after being one of the first corridor-sized traffic calming projects in the City!
-Market Street's traffic signal unit got righted to its correct orientation after being knocked sideways.
-Bricked crosswalks in the North Shore were repainted for visibility.
-And finally, our line painting team aided Public Works and Public Safety by lining and signing the parking lot at the newly remodeled Engine/Truck 8 Station and Zone 5 Police Station on N Euclid Ave in East Liberty.

Have a great weekend Pittsburgh!

Want to learn about AND contribute to a new public art project coming to Downtown's Smithfield Street? The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership invites you to bring your ideas!

Come meet artist Reinaldo Correa Diaz as he shares his conceptual designs & inspirations for a series of six new illuminated sculptures planned in coordination with the Smithfield Street Reconstruction Project. A brief presentation will be immediately followed by a walk and interactive workshop along Smithfield Street where participants become collaborators in the creative process. The walk and hands-on workshop will uncover the architectural motifs, patterns, and stories that define Smithfield Street and explore how those discoveries can be translated into the illuminated screen panels of the artwork.

This evening will be a fun, casual, and interactive event for Downtown residents/employees/visitors, fellow artists, and anyone who is interested (or just nebby)! The event will feature opportunities to chat with Reinaldo and PDP project representatives, and to inform and inspire the sculptures' design.

Due to the interactive nature of the evening, we encourage attendees to stay for the full 2 hours. We welcome anyone interested to register to attend! Thanks to Origin Story Coffee on Smithfield Street for hosting!

A little rain won't keep us down! Checkout this week's highlight reel:

-Our recently-formed Bridge Maintenance Team performed some work on the expansion joints of the Larimer Ave Bridge
-The Centre & Dithridge Signalized Intersection Project hit some major milestones this week. Signals are in place and are ready for the transition period.
-Our Lighting Team replaced the old high pressure sodium fixtures on North Braddock at Finance Street under the Busway. The new LED fixtures provide higher quality light with better color rendering at night.

Progress isn't measured by leaps and bounds, especially in construction, progress is measured in daily milestones and yards of concrete poured. Our Project Manager prepared a presentation on the Penn Avenue Phase II Reconstruction Project for DOMI employees to hear what it takes to manage a project of that scale.

Throughout construction we're publishing bi-weekly updates to project followers and stakeholders. To receive updates visit the project page on EngagePGH and "follow" the project, you'll receive email updates every other week.
