The Community for Positive Aging

The Community for Positive Aging The Next Chapter of the Hollywood Senior Center. Connecting our community to resources since 1973.

The Community for Positive Aging is a 501c3 not-for-profit, age-positive hub that offers a multitude of no-cost donation-based services, a devoted team enhanced by peer-run programs, and resources that empower you to learn, connect, and grow as you
age. While our services are designed with attention, compassion, and respect for those age 55 and older, we believe that younger and older generations

alike share attitudes and experiences that reflect positive aging, and we’ve created a place where everyone, regardless of who they are, feels part of this community.

August Asian Program Highlights! / 八月份亞洲項目活動分享!

It has been a busy and meaningful month for our Asian Program! Our seniors enjoyed a special U-Pick farm outing to The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island , made possible through our partnership with Ride Connection, which provided the shuttle and a wonderful driver. It was more than a farm trip—it was a wonderful opportunity for our seniors from four low-income housing communities to get outdoors, socialize, and enjoy time together.

Our Asian Food Pantry also continues to be supported by amazing community partners, including Kindness Farm, Portland Fruit Tree Project, Lan Su Chinese Garden, and Mora Mora Farm, who generously donate fresh fruits and culturally specific vegetables. We also received separate donations and delivery to 2 of our senior buildings through Backyard Garden Project.

We are incredibly grateful for our community partners and dedicated volunteers who make this work possible. Thank you for helping us nourish not only our seniors, but also their sense of connection and belonging. 💕 We welcome more community partners, donors, and volunteers to join us!

A heartfelt thank you to Anna Xu, The Community for Positive Aging's Asian Programs Manager, for joining our recent all-staff meeting and sharing about CfPA's incredible impact.

We learned about programs supporting older adults and low-income residents, essential support services, volunteer opportunities, and their Asian programs, including the Asian Food Pantry which was the first food pantry in Oregon specifically serving low-income Asian American seniors.

We appreciate Anna's partnership and the important work CfPA is doing to foster a healthier, more inclusive and connected community for older adults.

Teamwork makes the dream work 🤩

Results are in: We received 3,491 lbs of non-perishable food from Grocery Outlet's "Independence From Hunger" July food drive! This food will be distributed over the next several months during our weekly Tuesday food pantry, which is open to anyone regardless of age.

Huge thanks to all of our wonderful Portland community members who donated food bags, SIX incredible CfPA volunteers who transported, weighed, and sorted all 3,491 lbs of food throughout the month (shoutout Rebecca B, Carolyn, Lisa F, Dan, Ernesto, and Earl!), and multiple staff who lent a hand.

We are endlessly grateful for the generous spirit and actions of our neighborhood partner, Grocery Outlet. We're all in this fight together!
