The city of Sequim (WA) and the city of Shiso (Hyogo, Japan) are celebrating their 33rd anniversary of sister city relations this month.

Shiso is known for its rich natural surroundings, as the area is mostly forest. Also, it is believed that sake was first made in Shiso. It is said that the first Japanese sake was brewed in the waters of the Nukui River, which flows behind the Niwata Shrine.

There are several sake breweries in Shiso. You can try sake tasting and enjoy the delicious food offered there.
