Snow expected to make challenging travel conditions across the Cascade passes from Tuesday evening through Wednesday afternoon. Passes should expect 4 to 8 inches of snow. Plan for winter travel conditions.

While Sunday will remain mild and dry for most locations, the weather will turn cooler and more unsettled for much of the coming week. By Wednesday night and Thursday, light mountain and mountain pass snow accumulations will become possible.

Tonight will be chilly in the 20s and 30s. The western Columbia Basin and L-C valley will see their first freeze of the fall. Protect sensitive plants and vegetation!

Heads up, we have issued a dust advisory (valid until 130 PM) for a dust channel 7 miles east of Banks Lake, with a plume of dust moving southeast towards Road R Northeast south of Hartline, Kiner Road near Marlin, and as far south as Highway 28 near milepost 80 west of Odessa, WA. Visibilities less than a mile are possible and there are strong NW winds gusting 30-35 MPH in the area.

While Central WA is expected to receive little to no rain, Eastern WA and North ID will see increasing rain late this afternoon into the overnight hours. This graphic shows the HREF model chances for rain every 6 hours from noon today to noon Friday.

Winds will be gusty across central Washington and southeast Washington from Thursday night through Friday afternoon. Thursday night, crosswinds and airborne unsecured items, especially Halloween decorations, will be of concern. Once it warms up and dries out during the day on Friday, elevated fire weather conditions and patchy blowing dust will also be a concern across central Washington and the Palouse.

🌤️ Today & Wednesday: Mild and dry with passing high clouds. Heads up for some locally breezy winds this morning around Omak, Sandpoint, and Coeur d'Alene! 🌬️

🌧️💨 Late Week: Changes are coming! Showers will increase across Idaho and Eastern WA ahead of a cold front that will sweep through with gusty winds on Friday.

🃏 The Weekend: Our weekend system is still a bit of a wildcard! Models are showing a wide range of outcomes.

Weather conditions this week will continue to be mild and dry through Wednesday. Then the pattern will change for the latter half of the week with shift toward wetter conditions, cooler temperatures, and breezy winds (Friday). Snow levels will lower over the weekend with the potential for light snow in the mountains and over mountain passes.
