My faith has guided me to serve my community my entire life. I ran to be your state representative because I needed to put words into action and improve people’s lives—from ensuring all kids have access to a great education, to keeping our seniors in their homes and to making wages more equitable.

Thanks to my father’s union membership, I enjoyed a middle-class life and was able to go to college. I’m a strong supporter of collective bargaining because it is one of the best ways to level the playing field by giving more power to the worker, creating economic equity and a more just society.

There is no greater measure of community than how we care for our children, and that’s why I’ve fought to give working parents tax credits to make childcare more affordable.

Your zip code should not determine the quality of your education. Fair and equitable school funding will ensure all children have access to a quality education, which is the surest way to lift up whole communities.

I had the pleasure of taking a tour with Tom Quinn, the Executive Director of the Valley Forge Vanguard School, to learn more about the services they provide to students with autism and intellectual disabilities. Knowing several of my constituents attend this school, I felt it was important I learned more about what the Vanguard School does for them. I will always fight to get more support from Harrisburg for those with autism and intellectual disabilities, and the programs that support them. I'm thankful for the new budget allocations for those with autism and intellectual disabilities and their direct support professionals, but the work is not over.

Today we remember the courage of the service people who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting to protect our freedom. Use this link to learn more about the brave heroes of Pearl Harbor:

On Dec. 7, 1941, Japan launched a surprise attack on the U.S. Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The assault killed or wounded more than 3,500 American troops and civilians, severely damaged the fleet and propelled the nation into World War II.

I really enjoyed the Honey Brook Township tree lighting this week. Is there a better way to fend off the chill and snow flurries than singing Christmas carols with Santa, Mrs. Claus and these great Township Supervisors? I don’t think so!

Happy Thanksgiving! While today is an opportunity to spend time with our loved ones, this day also gives all of us an opportunity to show gratitude for all that we have received this year. While there is so much to be grateful for this year, I’d like to say that I am grateful for all of you here in the 74th. Thank you for putting your trust in me, thank you for your honesty and for communicating your concerns to me, and thank you for being you. I will use this day as a reminder to keep working hard for all of us here in the 74th District.

National Apprenticeship Week runs through November 23rd. It’s a perfect opportunity to spotlight how apprenticeships can bridge the gap between the skills Service members gain during their military careers and the technical expertise needed for civilian occupations.

In Pennsylvania, there are over 1,550 registered apprenticeship programs in diverse fields, including information technology, health care, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, and the building trades. These opportunities are key to addressing workforce shortages and empowering veterans.

I encourage veterans in our community explore these programs:

• Visit the PA CareerLink Registered Apprenticeship website: https://www.pacareerlink.pa.gov/jponline/apprenticeships
• Download the Department of Labor Apprenticeship for Veterans quick guide: https://www.pacareerlink.pa.gov/jponline/apprenticeships
• Contact Jeanette Coleman, Job Seeker Liaison with the PA Department of Labor and Industry’s Apprenticeship and Training Office at [email protected] or (717) 836-3050

Federal government websites often end in .gov or .mil. Before sharing sensitive information, make sure you’re on a federal government site.
