Edicioni i 25-të i DokuFest hapet këtë të premte në Prizren.
Me temën “Doku sepse duhet” dhe moton “Mosbindje e vazhdueshme”, festivali shënon 25 vite të kinemasë dokumentare, duke nxitur njëkohësisht reflektimin mbi sfidat e kohës sonë. 🎥🌍
Me 223 filma në program, ky edicion sjell histori dhe perspektiva mbi luftën, kujtesën, migrimin, identitetin, mjedisin dhe krizat globale. 🌱🕊️
🇫🇷 Mbështetur nga Ambasada e Francës dhe Instituti Francez në Kosovë, prania franceze është gjithashtu pjesë e edicionit të këtij viti.

La 25ᵉ édition de DokuFest s’ouvre ce vendredi à Prizren. Sous le thème « Doku parce qu’il le faut » et le slogan « Désobéissance continue », le festival célèbre 25 ans de cinéma documentaire tout en invitant à réfléchir aux grands défis de notre époque. 🎥🌍
Avec 223 films au programme, cette édition explore des thématiques telles que la guerre, la mémoire, les migrations, l’identité, l’environnement et les crises mondiales. 🌱🕊️
🇫🇷 Soutenue par l’Ambassade de France et l’Institut Français du Kosovo, la présence française est également au rendez-vous cette année.

🇽🇰🎬 DokuFest 2026 | highlights of the French presence at DokuFest
The 25th edition of DokuFest opens this Friday in Prizren. Under the theme “Doku because it must” and the motto “Continuous Disobedience”, the festival celebrates 25 years of documentary cinema while encouraging reflection on today’s major challenges. 🎥🌍
With 223 films in the programme, this year’s edition explores themes including war, memory, migration, identity, the environment, and global crises. 🌱🕊️
🇫🇷 Supported by the French Embassy and the French Institute of Kosovo, French participation is also part of this year’s festival.
✨ See below some highlights of the French presence at DokuFest.
• Masters of Shorts: Agnès Varda — the strongest French focus in the programme. The screening brings together five French films spanning 1958 to 2003: L’Opéra-Mouffe, Salut les Cubains, Black Panthers, Plaisir d’amour en Iran and Le Lion volatil.
9 August, 22:30 — DokuKino Plato
• Chocolat — Claire Denis’s 1988 debut feature, presented in the Blast from the Past programme. The French production examines colonial relationships in Cameroon shortly before independence.
11 August, 22:30 — DokuKino Plato
• A Life, a Manifesto — an entirely French production by Jean-Gabriel Périot. Using archival material, it follows filmmaker and political activist Michèle Firk through cinema, anti-colonial movements and revolutionary politics.
13 August, 15:00 — DokuKino
• Into the Jaws of the Ogre — a French production and regional premiere by Iranian-born, France-based filmmaker Mahsa Karampour. The film explores family, migration and belonging through two siblings living between Iran, France and the United States.
• Gabin — a France–Germany–Switzerland production set in northern France. Maxence Voiseux follows its young subject over ten years as he negotiates family expectations and his own ambitions.

• Normal Planet — a wholly French documentary short by Ekiem Barbier, Guilhem Causse and Quentin L’helgoualc’h, exploring art, identity and social behaviour inside a virtual museum.

• Fantasy — a French production by Paris-based filmmaker and Le Fresnoy graduate Isabel Pagliai. Its mixture of fiction and documentary makes it a natural fit for DokuFest’s Fiction/Non-Fiction programme.
