From 1 October 2026, the EFTA–Kosovo Free Trade Agreement between Kosovo and Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway will enter into force.

The agreement will open new opportunities for businesses and further strengthen economic relations between Kosovo and the EFTA countries. 🤝

🇨🇭 Yesterday, the Swiss Ambassador Anne-Lise Cattin Hennin paid a courtesy call to KFOR Commander Major General Özkan Ulutaş.

They exchanged views on the security situation in Kosovo and the important role of KFOR in maintaining a safe and stable environment. The Ambassador also thanked the KFOR Commander for his valuable contribution to peace and stability in Kosovo as he approaches the end of his mandate.

Switzerland is proud to have supported The HALO Trust throughout its 27-year journey in Kosovo, making communities safer and lives better. As HALO closes down its programme in Kosovo, we thank them for their remarkable work. However, the job is not yet done: every remaining contaminated area is a potential threat to people, communities and future generations. The work must continue!

🇨🇭🇽🇰 Swiss Ambassador Anne-Lise Cattin Hennin paid a courtesy call to the Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Ambassador Michael McGurk.

The meeting provided a good opportunity to exchange on current developments in Kosovo, the OSCE’s work and areas of common interest. As Switzerland holds the 2026 Chairpersonship of the OSCE, strengthening dialogue and cooperation with the OSCE Mission in Kosovo is an important part of Switzerland’s engagement.

Switzerland and the OSCE share a strong commitment to supporting dialogue, democracy and the rule of law in Kosovo. 🤝

Inclusion and social cohesion are central to Switzerland's partnership with Kosovo.

This week, together with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, we launched the MICS Survey, a tool for understanding disparities and informing evidence-based policies. While the findings confirm that Kosovo has made significant progress, they also highlight persistent inequalities affecting certain communities, particularly Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptians.

We look forward towards turning these findings into stronger policies, better public services, and equal opportunities for all.

Switzerland is happy to support the Prison Radio - International Sound and Radio Art Festival taking place from 10–13 September 2026. Hosted in part at Burgu i Idealit / the Former Pristina Prison, PRISON RADIO supported by the Swiss Development Cooperation brings together artists, musicians, radio makers, writers, researchers, former political prisoners and cultural practitioners from Kosovo, the Western Balkans and across Europe.

Taking the former prison as both a historical site and a point of departure, the festival explores questions of confinement, surveillance, discipline, resistance and freedom - and asks how radio, sound and collective listening can cross physical and social boundaries.
