[The Museum Becomes a Gallery for Trainees! Botswana Inclusive Art 2026]

From 13-20 September 2026, “Botswana Inclusive Art 2026” was held at National Museum in Gaborone. The exhibition was organized by JICA volunteers working in the field of disability support in Botswana, and Thuto Boswa Rehabilitation Centre (TBRC), an NGO where Mr. KANEKO (Marketing) is serving, also participated.

In preparation for the exhibition, 17 trainees spent about two months creating a total of 20 artworks. The collection showcased everyone’s unique creativity, featuring paintings, leather key holders and belts, decorated burlap tablecloths, knitted beanies and art pieces, paper flowers, beadwork, and even waste bins painted in the colors of Botswana.

During the exhibition, a total of 753 visitors attended, and many expressed interest in the works, with comments such as, “I'd like to buy this!” The trainees' artistic talents and creativity attracted considerable attention.

Mr. KANEKO, who was responsible for documenting the production process, designing promotional flyers, and managing social media outreach, said “I’m truly happy that so many people had the opportunity to see the trainees’ work. Hearing visitors say they wanted to buy the pieces was a great boost for the trainees as well. I hope this exhibition will help more people learn about TBRC and the work it does.”

Through their interactions with numerous visitors, the trainees were able to discover new possibilities for themselves during these memorable eight days.

【博物館が訓練生のギャラリーに！Botswana Inclusive Art 2026】

9月13日（日）〜20日（日）、ハボローネの国立博物館で、インクルーシブアートの美術展「Botswana Inclusive Art 2026」が開催されました！ボツワナで障害者支援に関わる隊員たちが企画した美術展で、金子隊員（職種：マーケティング）が活動するNGO Thuto Boswa Rehabilitation Centre（TBRC）も出展しました。

出展に向けて、訓練生17名が約2か月かけて計20点の作品を制作しました。絵画、革のキーホルダーやベルト、麻布をデコレーションしたテーブルクロス、毛糸のビーニーやアート作品、紙の花、ビーズ作品、そしてボツワナカラーに塗られたゴミ箱まで、一人ひとりの個性があふれる作品が並びました。

会期中は753名もの来場があり、作品を手に取って「これを買いたい！」と声をかけられることもあり、訓練生の表現力に注目が集まりました。

制作風景の記録やチラシ制作、ソーシャルメディアでの発信を担当した金子隊員は、「訓練生の作品がこんなに多くの人に見てもらえて、本当にうれしいです。『買いたい』と言ってもらえたことは、彼らにとっても大きな自信になったと思います。これをきっかけに、TBRCのことをもっと多くの人に知ってもらえたらうれしいです」と話していました。

多くの来場者との出会いを通じて、訓練生たちの新たな可能性を感じる8日間となりました。
