On July 17, 2026 the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Solid Waste Management, through the Sustainable Development Unit and the Climate Change Department in partnership with UNICEF Belize, officially launched the Climate Landscape Analysis on Children + Report.

This is Belize's first comprehensive national analysis examining how climate change, environment, energy, and disaster (CEED) risks affect children and other vulnerable populations including persons with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples, and pregnant and lactating women.

The report provides recommendations for a whole of government and whole of society approach to strengthen collaboration across health, education, social protection, disaster risk management, environmental management, and sustainable development.

A successful day of collaboration as the SDU in partnership with the SIB (SIB), hosted a national validation workshop focused on strengthening Belize's sustainable development data ecosystem.

Participants reviewed and endorsed three key national reports that will help shape future planning and decision making:

•Interim SDG progress Report 2025
• SDG Data Ecosystem Prioritization and Action Plan 2026-2030
•Statistical Capacities and Needs Assessment 2026

Copies of each report and presentations were distributed to participants, and we now look forward to receiving their valuable feedback before the documents are finalized.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all participants for their thoughtful contributions and to our Partners the Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT), Green Climate Fund (GCF), and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for their invaluable support in making this initiative possible.

Call for Grant Applications!

IOM Belize, with funding from the European Union, is inviting legally registered Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Belize to apply for grant funding of up to US$160,000 per recipient to support conservation and environmental protection efforts.

Eligible applicants should be CSOs working in conservation or environmental protection in southern or western terrestrial areas of Belize, with experience in protected areas, forest conservation, patrols, surveillance, or enforcement. Applicants should also be able to show current or previous coordination with relevant Government of Belize authorities.
