✨Where water flows, equality grows✨

This World Water Day (March 22, 2026), we welcomed around 500 children and teenagers who came eager to learn about the powerful connection between water, sanitation, and gender equality.

It was an honor to have Hon. Orlando Habet, Hon. Alex Balona, and UNICEF Belize Representative Sajid Ali join us in highlighting the importance of inclusive and sustainable water access for all.

A huge shoutout to the Water Day Committee, led by the National Hydrological Service, for putting together such an impactful event. The planning took a lot of effort but seeing the growth, curiosity, and excitement in the kids before and after made it all worth it. 🙌

The Senior Sustainable Development Officer participated as a panelist at the National Summit on Climate - Resilient Human Settlements & Infrastructure, held under the theme "Governing for Resilience, Planning for people".

Hosted by the Belize Association of Professional Planners through the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness 10 Programme, the summit brought together key national partners to share knowledge and strengthen collaboration.

During the panel discussion Mrs. Darlene Haylock highlighted how the National Land Use Policy supports Belize's broader Sustainable Development agenda by integrating environmental protection, social equity and economic growth.

Exciting progress for Belize’s first-ever CLAC+!

We’ve launched the consultation phase, bringing voices together to shape the future through an inclusive process that engages vulnerable groups, including Children, Persons with Disabilities, Indigenous Peoples, and Pregnant and Lactating Women. This reflects our shared commitment to the sustainability principle of leaving no one behind.

This collaborative journey is led by the Government of Belize through the Sustainable Development Unit, the National Climate Change Office and UNICEF Belize.

👏 Special shout out to the Department of Youth Services for their amazing coordination in bringing youths from across the country together for a dynamic youth focus session!

🗓️ Stay tuned! The final report is coming in June 2026
