Today, the Department of the Environment proudly participated in the International Biodiversity Day 2026 Biodiversity Fair held at Falcon Field, San Ignacio under the theme: β€œActing Locally for Global Impact: Our Culture, Our Biodiversity, Our Impact.” 🌿

Our team engaged students on the importance of preventing littering and water pollution, and how these actions help protect Belize’s biodiversity, rivers, and wildlife. Through the National Anti-Littering Campaign, β€œOur Belize, Our Responsibility, Bin It,” we encouraged students to do their part in keeping Belize clean and healthy. ♻️

We also shared information on the Department’s ongoing water quality monitoring efforts across seven rivers in Belize and highlighted the importance of protecting our waterways.πŸ’§πŸŒŽ

The Department of the Environment is proud to partner with the Caye Caulker Liquor License Board to enhance noise abatement efforts on the island.

A sensitization session was held with the Chair of the Board. This initiative is designed to build awareness and strengthen capacity for effective noise management within the community.

As part of this collaboration, the Department also donated two decibel meters to support monitoring activities. The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), underscoring a shared commitment to preserving the quality of life for residents and visitors.
