The Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining proudly hosted a Women’s Wellness Day in celebration of Women’s Month. An initiative that was met with great enthusiasm and participation.

Throughout the day, staff had access to on-site wellness checks, including blood pressure, diabetes, and HIV testing. These services were especially appreciated, offering a convenient and important opportunity for health awareness right within the workplace.

A highlight of the day was an engaging and insightful wellness session delivered by Dr. Annel Martinez, whose presentation on women’s health and well-being was very well received.

Staff also enjoyed calming yoga sessions led by Florence Goldson, where our conference room was transformed into a serene space with soft music and candlelight, allowing participants a moment to pause and recharge.

The day concluded with a delightful luncheon under the tents, where colleagues came together to share a healthy meal, laughter, and light-hearted moments. Interactive activities and prize giveaways added to the celebratory atmosphere, making the experience both enjoyable and memorable.

The Ministry takes pride in creating spaces that support the well-being of its staff and was especially encouraged by the strong show of support from all team members, including the many men who participated by wearing purple in solidarity.

MNRPM Participates in National Summit on Climate-Resilient Human Settlements and Infrastructure

Last week, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining participated in the National Summit on Climate-Resilient Human Settlements and Infrastructure held in Belize City under the theme “Governing for Resilience, Planning for People.”

The summit, supported by the Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) and the Belize Association of Professional Planners, brought together government agencies, planners, municipalities and development partners to strengthen collaboration and advance climate-resilient development in Belize.

Representing the Ministry, Ms. Keisha Rodriguez, Director of Policy and Planning, delivered the lead presentation during Plenary Session 1: Policy & Governance for Climate-Resilient Human Settlements, highlighting the role of Belize’s National Land Use Policy and planning frameworks in supporting coordinated, sustainable land management and resilient development. The session was moderated by Safiyyah Muhammad, Director Communications and Public Relations at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining

The Ministry was additionally represented by Mr. Alfred Cal, Deputy Commissioner of Lands and Surveys, who contributed a technical presentation examining the nexus between climate resilience, urbanization, housing and infrastructure.

Participants also had the opportunity to engage with the Ministry’s team through an informational booth, where stakeholders learned more about ongoing initiatives related to land management, planning and sustainable development.
