Rainbow is heading to Parliament Hill in Ottawa on October 6 to bring the priorities of 2SLGBTQI+ communities in Manitoba to federal decision-makers.

We are joining q***r, trans and allied organizations from across Canada for a Q***r Day of Action calling on the Government of Canada to Renew and Expand the Federal 2SLGBTQIA+ Action Plan.

We don't make this trip lightly. It takes us away from the everyday work of supporting q***r people in our communities. But this is a critical moment - for Canada and q***r people.

At a time when 2SLGBTQI+ communities are facing growing challenges at home and abroad, Canada cannot step back from a funded federal Action Plan.

Rainbow Resource Centre se rendra sur la Colline du Parlement, à Ottawa, le 6 octobre afin de faire connaître aux décideurs fédéraux les priorités des communautés 2ELGBTQI+ de Manitoba.

Nous nous joindrons à des organisations q***rs, trans et alliées de partout au Canada dans le cadre d’une Journée de mobilisation q***r afin de demander au gouvernement du Canada de renouveler et d’élargir le Plan d’action fédéral 2ELGBTQIA+.

On the morning of Thursday, October 1, Rainbow Resource Centre sent a questionnaire to the 12 mayoral candidates in the 2026 Winnipeg municipal election, including: Mazher Alam, Johnny Calderon, Chris Clacio, Tracey Drexler, Scott Gillingham, Brad Gross, Umar Hayat, Kevin Klein, Joshua Pagdato, Noah Redden, Mike Vogiatzakis, and Don Woodstock.

Candidates were given until Tuesday, October 13, at 4:00 PM to respond for their answers to be considered for publication. The results of the questionnaire will be published on Rainbow’s communications channels ahead of election day. Rainbow Resource Centre does not endorse any candidate. Our goal is to inform the community on Winnipeg mayoral candidates’ positions on issues affecting 2SLGBTQ+ Winnipeggers.

We would like to thank our community partners for their input on creating these questions.

Every Child Matters, now and always 🧡

September 30 is Orange Shirt Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour Survivors of residential schools, to remember the children who never returned home, and to learn about the history of these schools, their role in colonization, and their ongoing impact. It is a day of learning and reflection, an opportunity for conversations about truth and reconciliation, and meaningful action. Orange shirts are worn to show solidarity with Survivors, their families, and communities.

🟠6th Annual Orange Shirt Day Healing Walk and Pow Wow – On September 30, beginning with an opening ceremony at 9:30 am at the Oodena Circle in The Forks. A healing walk will go from The Forks to the Canada Life Centre, where the Grand entry for the pow wow will take place at 1 pm. 🟠 Orange Shirt Days at the Manitoba Museum – The Manitoba Museum is providing complimentary admission to the Museum Galleries, Science Gallery, and Planetarium from September 30 to October 2, 2026, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Waaseyaa Haze (she/her) is a high‑energy drag performer of over four years, known for vibrant lip‑syncs, dynamic dance, and classic drag aesthetics infused with Anishinaabe and Ponca identity.
Aria Zero (she/they) is a Canadian Magical Girl Drag Artist! In her drag, she is heavily inspired by video games and anime, and she is known for being one of the creators of the show SUPER STAR which originated at Ai-Kon 2023!

Rainbow Resource Centre & RBC present The Category Is: Gala, a celebration of q***r culture in pop culture. Temitope the Ingenious (they/he) will be leading The Category Is: Fashion Challenge. The five fashion categories are:

🪩 Disco Glam
Pure 1970s nightlife energy. Think anything shiny: sequins, metallic fabrics, deep V-necks, or wide-leg jumpsuits.

👔 Power Suit
Sharp, bold tailoring. A matching suit, a blazer with flare pants, or a bold-coloured pantsuit, with bonus points for wide lapels or a fun patterned tie.

🌻 Print Parade
The fearless use of bold prints and colour that defined 1970s fashion: paisley, florals, geometric prints, psychedelic patterns, chevron, polka dots, plaid, or mixed prints. Clashing patterns creatively is encouraged.

Formal gala wear, elevated. Long dresses, velvet tuxedos, silk gowns, or formal wear paired with dramatic jewelry.

The Bi+ Social Group’s Discussion Group is for those who experience multi-gender attraction to share diverse perspectives, discover common experiences, and find support within a safer, welcoming space.

“Bi+” and “multi-gender attraction” identities could include bisexual, pansexual, omnisexual, polysexual, multisexual, biromantic, panromantic, fluid, questioning, and any other identity under the bi+ umbrella, including those who prefer not to use labels.

Participants must be 18+. No registration or active participation required.

***The Bi+ Social Group is a scent-free zone.***

If a participant arrives wearing any degree of perfume, cologne, or other strongly-scented products, they will be asked to leave. They may return once the scent has been fully eliminated.

Parking:

- Parking in the lot off the back door of Rainbow Resource Centre available after 5:00 p.m.
- Street parking available after 5:30 p.m.

We are a social support, advocacy and peer education group. We are here to listen, talk, learn, and support each other as we work to understand our family members experience in their gender identity journey, and strengthen our families and communities. We meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month, 7:00pm - 9:00pm, year-round at Rainbow Resource Centre.

The Bi+ Social Group discussion group is an opportunity for people who experience multi-gender attraction to talk about different topics related to the bisexual+ experience. The group meets on the 4th Thursday of every month from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.

New Pride of Winnipeg is a space for newcomers to Canada (immigrants and folks with refugee experience) who identify as 2SLGBTQ+. New Pride of Winnipeg meets on the fourth Friday of each month from 6:30pm - 8:00pm.

Thank you to all participants, organizers, and guests of AfroProud: Imagining Black Q***r Audacity in Winnipeg. Your expertise, your ideas, and stories have created a spark for collective action to take place in our organizations and our communities.

This incredible event was part of Summit Week for the 5th National Black Canadians Summit, and created in collaboration with Fondation Michaëlle Jean Foundation. Rainbow is proud to be a community partner for the summit, in solidarity with the African, Black, and Caribbean communities of Manitoba.

The 5th National Black Canadians Summit is happening September 18 -21 at the RBC Convention Centre. See the Fondation Michaëlle Jean Foundation page for more details.
