🇫🇷🇰🇳 Strengthening France–Saint Kitts and Nevis relations

Her Excellency Marie-Noëlle Duris, Ambassador of France, travelled to Saint Kitts and Nevis from 16 to 20 September 2026 to participate in the celebrations marking the country’s 43rd Independence Anniversary.
During her visit, Ambassador Duris held fruitful meetings with the Honourable Minister for Education, who also serves as Acting Prime Minister; the Honourable Minister for Foreign Affairs; the Honourable Attorney General and Minister of Justice. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring opportunities for deeper collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including education, diplomacy, health, security and other sectors of shared priority.

The Ambassador also met with the Focal Point for Francophonie, Mrs Liburd-Brandy, for discussions on Saint Kitts and Nevis’ application to the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) for Observer status. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the benefits of closer engagement with the Francophonie and on the role of the French Embassy in supporting this process.

The Embassy of France looks forward to further strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between France and Saint Kitts and Nevis, and to supporting new opportunities for partnership in the years ahead.

🇰🇳🇫🇷 43 Years of Independence — Saint Kitts and Nevis

The Embassy of France to the Eastern Caribbean States, to Barbados and to the OECS, in residence in Saint Lucia, warmly congratulates the people and Government of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis on the occasion of its 43rd Independence Anniversary.

France and Saint Kitts and Nevis share longstanding ties and a growing partnership, strengthened by our common Caribbean identity and shared commitment to sustainable development, climate action, multilateralism and regional cooperation.

Our relationship encompasses cultural and educational exchanges, French language learning, renewable energy and climate resilience, as well as cooperation within the wider Eastern Caribbean region.

The Alliance Française in Basseterre continues to serve as an important bridge between our peoples, while cooperation on geothermal energy reflects our shared interest in a more sustainable Caribbean future.

France also attaches great importance to strengthening Caribbean integration and to working alongside Saint Kitts and Nevis in addressing the challenges facing our region, including climate change and sustainable development.

On this special occasion, France extends its warmest wishes to the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis for continued peace, prosperity and progress.

🇦🇬🇫🇷 Strengthening the Bonds of Friendship and Cooperation
Her Excellency Marie-Noëlle Duris, Ambassador of France to Antigua and Barbuda, formally presented her credentials on Monday, 14 September 2026, marking the beginning of her tenure and another important chapter in the longstanding relationship between France and Antigua and Barbuda.

The relationship between the two countries is grounded in friendship, mutual respect and cooperation. Beyond traditional diplomatic ties, France and Antigua and Barbuda share important geographic, cultural and regional connections through France’s Caribbean territories of Guadeloupe and Martinique. These connections provide opportunities for greater collaboration in areas such as trade, healthcare, education, climate action, security, culture and sustainable development.

During her official visit, Ambassador Duris also paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda. Their discussions focused on matters of mutual interest and opportunities to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries. Key areas discussed included climate change and the challenges facing Small Island Developing States, education and academic exchanges, healthcare, security, economic development, and stronger links with Guadeloupe and Martinique.
Her Excellency also met with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Ministers for Health, Education, Tourism and Civil Aviation, respectively, as well as the Attorney General. These meetings provided an opportunity for fruitful discussions and reflected a shared commitment to strengthening relations and formalising cooperation, with a view to providing a more effective response to the challenges facing the Caribbean region.

As Antigua and Barbuda and France continue to deepen their partnership, the appointment of Ambassador Duris presents an opportunity to build on existing cooperation and create new avenues for collaboration for the benefit of both countries and the wider Caribbean region.

A new chapter in the longstanding friendship between France and Barbados 🇫🇷🇧🇧
On Wednesday, 8 September 2026, H.E. Marie-Noëlle Duris, Ambassador of France to the Eastern Caribbean States, Barbados and the OECS, presented her Letters of Credence to H.E. The Most Honourable Jeffrey Bostic, President of Barbados.
France and Barbados have enjoyed cordial diplomatic relations since 1968, with cooperation spanning climate action, culture and education, security, and regional engagement. France looks forward to further strengthening this partnership and working together on shared priorities for the benefit of both our peoples. 🇫🇷🤝🇧🇧

🎭 A wonderful visit to the Embassy! 🇫🇷

The SCAC team was delighted to welcome Father Peter, Head of the Immaculate Conception Catholic School (ICCS) in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis, for a meeting focused on educational cooperation.

This visit is part of a growing educational partnership led by the French Embassy in Saint Lucia, facilitating a regional tour by OTEP, a theatre company from French Guiana, in collaboration with the Ministries of Education of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Dominica, and Barbados — using theatre as a tool for language learning and cultural exchange.

We look forward to seeing this collaboration bring students onto the stage across the region! 🌍📚

🇫🇷🏳️‍🌈 The embassy of France stands with 758 Pride of Saint Lucia.

We were proud to take part in their event on Saturday, 30 August 2026 — which was an opportunity for meaningful dialogue, connection and community engagement.

This participation reflects France’s boarder support for LGBT+ organisations across the Eastern Caribbean region and our continued commitment to fostering inclusion, equality and respect for all.

The evening also brought a particularly warm moment, as one of our staff members had the pleasure of joining the local jazz band for a musical performance. 🎷🎵

A heartfelt thank you to 758 Pride for the invitation, the collaboration and for creating spaces that bring people together!

🇫🇷🤝🇱🇨On 5 August, the Embassy of France took part in the Civil Society Dialogue on NDC Implementation, organised by the Department of Sustainable Development in Saint Lucia.

🇫🇷 An opportunity to present the Embassy’s Small Grants Programme, which supports civil society organisations (CSOs) in implementing projects across the region, and to exchange with CSOs on their project development and financing needs.

💬 The dialogue also brought together CSOs and cooperation partners to discuss the implementation of Saint Lucia’s NDC 3.0.
