Supporting Equality Across the Caribbean 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

On 3 June, H.E. Marie-Noëlle Duris, Ambassador of France, hosted at the Residence of France in Saint Lucia the launch of a French-funded regional project supporting LGBT+ rights across 11 Caribbean countries, in the presence of institutional and civil society partners.

As a country committed to human rights and equality, France continues to play an active role in supporting legal progress and ensuring it translates into real protection in daily life.

While important steps have been made since 2022 towards the decriminalisation of homosexuality in several Caribbean countries, discrimination and stigma remain a reality. Therefore, through this French-funded initiative, with co-financing from Avocats sans frontières Canada, France supports stronger public institutions, empowered civil society, and deeper regional dialogue on human rights.

The project covers 11 countries across the Caribbean: Saint Lucia, Dominica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Barbados, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Suriname.

🇫🇷 The Service for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs (SCAC) of the French Embassy in Saint Lucia is pleased to welcome two new International Volunteers in Administration (VIA), Nicolas and André.

Based in Castries, the SCAC coordinates and supports cooperation initiatives across 11 Caribbean territories, in close collaboration with 5 French embassies in the region. Its actions promote cultural cooperation, the French language, higher education, scientific exchange and regional partnerships throughout the Caribbean. 🤝

Bringing with them diverse academic and professional backgrounds, Nicolas and André are joining a dynamic regional network dedicated to fostering dialogue, innovation and cooperation across the Caribbean. 🌎

🕘 Full-time position — 37.5 hours/week (Monday to Friday)

✅ Eligibility
Applicants who are not nationals/citizens of an OECS Member State must hold a valid Saint Lucia work permit at the time of application.

📄 Contract
• One-year fixed-term contract
• 3-month probation period
• Possibility of a permanent contract after the first year

💰 Remuneration & Benefits
• Monthly salary: 2,719 XCD
• Transport allowance: 150 XCD/month
• December bonus equivalent to one month’s salary (subject to eligibility)
• Health insurance provided
• Contribution to NIC and possible support for a supplementary pension plan
