Congratulations Patrish Lionel 🎊

Three young Saint Lucians, Nyus Alfred, Amanie Mathurin and Patrish Lionel, all hailing from the south of the island, traded the warmth of home and Saint Lucia’s sun for lecture halls in London and Liverpool, long nights of research, and the often grey and biting cold of a British winter.

Message from our Member of Parliament 🇱🇨Happy 47th Independence 🇱🇨

Member of Parliament for the constituency of Anse La Raye/Canaries and Minister of Economic Development and the Youth Economy

Dear Constituents, Fellow Saint Lucians,

On this 47th Anniversary of Independence, I extend heartfelt greetings to every constituent, every citizen at home and across the diaspora.

Independence is our collective inheritance earned through courage, sacrifice, and an unshakable belief that we can stand with dignity, purpose, and pride among the nations of the world.

But independence also carries responsibility.

It calls on us not only to celebrate our achievements, but to confront honestly the challenges that will define our future.

Today, we face a rising burden of non-communicable diseases that threatens the health, productivity, and longevity of our people.

We face a declining birth rate that raises important questions about the sustainability of our workforce and the long-term vitality of our nation.

And we face the accelerating impacts of climate change rising seas, stronger storms, and growing environmental vulnerability that test the very resilience upon which our independence was built.

These challenges are not insurmountable. But they require clarity, courage, and decisive action.

As Minister of Economic Development and the Youth Economy, I am deeply conscious that economic policy today must do more than generate growth. It must protect life, expand opportunity, and secure the future of our nation.

We must continue to build an economy that supports healthier living, strengthens families, empowers young people, and invests in climate resilience.

We must continue to create pathways for our youth to innovate, to lead, and to build their futures here at home.

We must ensure that development is sustainable, inclusive, and anchored in the well-being of our people.

This is the next phase of our independence journey transforming sovereignty into security, resilience, and shared prosperity.

The strength of Saint Lucia has never been measured by our size, but by the resolve of our people.

And it is that resolve that will carry us forward.

On this Independence Day, let us renew our commitment to country. Let us work together to build a healthier nation, a resilient economy, and a secure future for generations to come.

Happy 47th Independence, Saint Lucia.
