MINISTRY HOSTS CÔTE D'IVOIRE EDUCATION DELEGATION
The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC) today welcomed an education delegation from the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire on a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and sharing best practices in education.
The delegation, led by Mr. KOUAKOU Porne, Regional Director of National Education, Literacy and Technical Education for Abidjan 2, was received by Ms. Edda Bohn, Deputy Executive Director: Formal Education, on behalf of the Ministry.
During the engagement, the delegation shared insights into education reforms in Côte d'Ivoire, including efforts to improve skills development, quality assurance, access to education and alignment of training programmes with labour market needs. They highlighted that their education system serves approximately 7 million learners and 200,000 teachers, while acknowledging challenges in areas such as science, mathematics and vocational training.
The delegation also expressed interest in Namibia’s experience in promoting women in leadership and managing learner pregnancy. Mr. Nghikembua, Director of Education for the Khomas Region, shared that Namibia’s Affirmative Action legislation has created opportunities for women in leadership, with appointments guided by qualifications, competence and merit.
The visit concluded with both countries reaffirming their commitment to strengthening collaboration and exchanging knowledge to advance quality, inclusive and equitable education.
