Our medical delegation from the Khomas Region safely arrived in Jiangsu Province, People’s Republic of China, yesterday, ahead of their one-month fellowship programme at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital.
The fellowship programme will take place from 03 August to 01 September 2026, and forms part of the longstanding and strong partnership between the Khomas Regional Council and Jiangsu Province. The programme reflects the shared commitment of both regions to strengthening healthcare through knowledge exchange, professional development, and capacity building.
We wish our delegates a safe, productive, and rewarding stay in Jiangsu Province, as they embark on this important professional journey.

Twelve Namibian doctors depart for China fellowship

The Khomas Regional Council on Thursday ushered-away 12 medical specialists from the region, who will participate in a 31-day observational fellowship in China.

The fellowship is set to start on the 3rd of August until the first of September, at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, in China's Jiangsu Province.

Khomas Governor Sam Nujoma said the fellowship builds on the health cooperation agreement signed between the Jiangsu Health Commission and the Khomas Regional Council on 31 July 2025.

Delegation representative, Dr Juanita !Naobeb, said the fellowship will provide an opportunity to strengthen their clinical skills as they will gain new knowledge, to improve patient care in Namibia.

The delegation includes specialists in obstetric intensive care, neonatology, radiation oncology, paediatrics and child health, anaesthesiology, and surgery trauma.

The Katutura East Constituency Regional Councillor, Hon. Richard !Gaoseb, in collaboration with valued stakeholders, hosted a Winter Soup Kitchen for the elderly and vulnerable residents of his Constituency, as part of ongoing efforts to provide care and support during the cold winter season.
The initiative brought together community partners, committed to making a positive impact by providing warm meals and fostering a spirit of compassion, unity and dignity.

As the cold winter winds sweep across the Khomas Region, the Khomas Regional Council, through its Constituency Offices, remains committed to supporting the most vulnerable members of our Region.

Recently, the Regional Councillor for Windhoek Rural Constituency, Honourable Willem Gariseb, handed over 83 winter blankets to vulnerable households and the Braungardsbrun School Hostel. The blankets were distributed to the Kaapsfarm Community (33), elders in Braungardsbrun (30), and the Braungardsbrun School Hostel (20).

The initiative forms part of the Council's ongoing commitment to providing relief, dignity, and hope to vulnerable residents during the winter season.
