Great news, moth plant hunters! 🌿✨
The Henderson-Massey Moth Plant Competition has been extended!

You now have until Saturday 24 May to collect pods, pull vines, and submit your poster entries. That’s extra time to help tackle this invasive w**d in your neighbourhood—and more chances to win a share of over $1,000 in prizes!

Competition categories:
💚 Most pods collected (team)
💚 Most vines removed (team)
💚 Poster design (individual)

This fun, family-friendly competition is open to teams with at least one member who lives, works, or goes to school in the Henderson-Massey local board area.

So grab your gloves, rally your whānau, friends, school or community group, and keep up the awesome mahi removing moth plant from our streets, parks and backyards.

💡 Brightening up Toi / Coletta Esplanade! 💡

Work is underway to install new lighting along the esplanade, with completion expected by the end of June.

🚶‍♀️ What to expect:

🔸The new path will be partially closed, with one lane open at all times so you can still travel both ways.
🔸The old footpath next to the road remains open.
🔸A short full closure is expected in May during drilling works — please follow on-site signage. Pedestrians will be diverted to the path alongside Central Park Drive.

This project is proudly funded by our board, thanks to Auckland Transport for delivering the mahi for us.

As the days grow shorter, life across the southern hemisphere begins to slow down. Nature gradually shifts toward a season of rest, gathering energy for the next cycle of growth. 🍁🎑

It’s also a lovely time to give something back to te taiao (the natural environment).

Proudly supported by our board, there are plenty of easy ways to get involved close to home, whether it's joining an EcoFest workshop, cycling along to Bike Hub Henderson, or taking the kids to an upcycled arts and crafts session with The ReCreators. 💚
