Te Puna whānau, tonight’s the night! We’re proud to stand behind Te Pou Theatre as they open the 12th annual Kōanga Festival with Tākiritia! a stunning evening of opera, waiata, poetry and prose.
This year’s festival heroes Te Henga - black sands, rugged West Coast whenua and the crashing moana, celebrating the boldness and beauty of our creative natives and Tangata Moana mates through 11 days of storytelling.
Come through tonight and be part of it. Whānau Day is this Saturday (free for the whole whānau), with new works, play readings and Aroha-ha comedy through to UPU closing the festival on the 20th. 💛

🏆 We're award-winning!

Te Puna Creative Innovation Quarter here in Te Kōpua Henderson has just picked up a 2026 Gold Award for Excellence in Economic Development from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), in the Multi-Year Collaborative Economic Development category.

New to our mahi? Here's the quick version 👇
Te Puna is a partnership between Auckland Council and Te Kawerau ā Maki, established in 2022. It's part of a much bigger vision to grow west Auckland as a creative and innovation hub, linking Henderson town centre, Corban Estate Arts Centre and Auckland Film Studios into one connected creative quarter.
At the heart of it is Te Puna Creative Hub.

This gold award recognises years of work coordinating public, private and iwi investment to build real pathways into the creative industries for our community.
