A meaningful day of unity, environmental stewardship, and community collaboration unfolded as the Kias community came together for the Tree Parenting and Tree Planting Program, anchored on the theme:

🌿 “Rooted in Community, Growing in Care: Tree Parenting, Tree Planting, and Environmental Stewardship.”

The activity was a collaborative undertaking of WCAKI, under the leadership of Sir Agusto Cayda; St. Joseph the Worker–Kias Gimong, headed by Reverend Father Jeffrey D. Habado; Barangay Kias, led by Barangay Captain Victor O. Benlingan; and Kias Elementary School, headed by Principal Nickcarter Junior C. Gonzalo.

🌲 A total of 220 seedlings were planted and cared for during the activity:

🌲 200 pieces of 8-month-old pine tree seedlings donated by CENRO
☕ 20 pieces of coffee seedlings donated by CVAO

The activity was joined by the KALIPI Women’s Group of Barangay Kias, Barangay Kias representatives, SPTA headed by Mr. Nathaniel Felipe, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, SELG, WCAKI, 4P's, and the Kias Elementary School faculty.

Special thanks to Sir Arthur Angway for generously providing bread and drinks for the participants. ❤️

This activity reminds us that tree planting is only the beginning. Through tree parenting, we commit ourselves to nurturing, protecting, and monitoring these seedlings so they can grow into healthy trees that will benefit the community and future generations.

𝗞𝗶𝗮𝘀 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

Kias Elementary School proudly participated in the 2026 Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) held on September 11–12, 2026, at the SPED Center, Baguio City. Representing the school paper, Sagaok Odyssey, the young campus journalists showcased their skills, creativity, and dedication in various journalism contests.

The school earned outstanding recognition through Gillian Xia Faye A. Onghihon, who won 1st Place in News Writing, and Apsan Shaes P. Makie, who also secured 1st Place in Sports Writing. Both will qualify and represent Baguio on the Regional Schools press Conference. The Radio Broadcasting and Scriptwriting Team, composed of Shepirah Vana Y. Sambot, Jhonfrey R. Masliyan, Alleen Feven B. Deligen, John Kiefer Bien, Nazzel Ace Montes, Issa Awingan, and Leo Contes, achieved 2nd Place.

Other KESian journalists who proudly represented the school were Alyjah Benito in Editorial Cartooning, Amarah Ducusin in Editorial Writing, Shanebelle Minggol in Feature Writing, Angel Divine Victor in Copyreading and Headline Writing, Franz Mikhail Mendiola in Science and Technology Writing, and Caella Freanne Bangguiyao in Photojournalism.

The achievements of the campus journalists reflected their hard work, perseverance, and passion for journalism. With the guidance and full support of School Head NickCarter Junior C. Gonzalo, Supervision of Coach/Adviser Caryl P. Makie, and voluntary training commitment of our partners, the learners brought pride and honor to Kias Elementary School and strengthened the spirit of excellence of Sagaok Odyssey.

𝗗𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝘆𝗴𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀

On September 22, 2026, the Division Office Dental Team visited Kias Elementary School to promote proper oral hygiene among Kindergarten and Grade 1 learners.

During the activity, the learners received toothbrushes and toothpaste and were taught the proper way of brushing their teeth. With the guidance of their teachers, the learners actively participated in the demonstration and practiced the correct brushing techniques.

The activity helped strengthen the learners’ awareness of the importance of good oral hygiene and encouraged them to develop healthy dental habits at an early age. The school extends its appreciation to the Division Office Dental Team for supporting the health and well-being of its young learners.

September 18, 2026, the school gratefully received two Interactive Whiteboards donated by the Fernando-Rosa Bautista (FRB) Foundation, under the leadership of President Justin Ray Bautista of the University of Baguio. The University of Baguio is one of the school’s valued partners in supporting programs and initiatives that benefit learners.

The donated Interactive Whiteboards will help enhance classroom instruction by providing teachers and learners with more engaging, interactive, and technology-supported learning experiences. These learning resources will make lessons more dynamic and responsive to the needs of today’s learners.

The school extends its sincere appreciation to the FRB Foundation, President Justin Ray Bautista, and the University of Baguio for their generosity and continued commitment to supporting quality education. This meaningful partnership reflects a shared goal of providing learners with better opportunities, innovative resources, and enriching learning experiences.

𝗞𝗶𝗮𝘀 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗣𝗧𝗔 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴

BAGUIO CITY- Kias Elementary School successfully conducted its 1st School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA) General Conference for School Year 2026–2027 on September 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., bringing together school personnel, parents, community partners, and stakeholders to strengthen cooperation in support of learners.

School Head Nickcarter Junior C. Gonzalo delivered the welcome remarks and emphasized the importance of partnership among the school, families, and community.

Informative discussions were also conducted. Eduard Pasagoy, Sun Life Insurance Representative, discussed Sun Life Insurance, while matters concerning Red Cross Insurance were also presented. During the Barangay Hour, Kias Barangay Captain Victor O. Benlingan Jr. represented by Kagawad Rienzi Gonzales, discussed relevant community concerns and school-barangay partnership.

Updates and accomplishments for the previous school year were presented by Maam Caryl P. Makie, School Paper Adviser, through the School E-Publication Report for S.Y. 2025–2026, and by Rejoice T. Budeng, SELG Adviser, through the SELG Report for S.Y. 2025–2026.

SPTA President Nathaniel S. Felipe led the President’s Hour highlighted all the accomplished project for a safe and conducive learning place, while SPTA Treasurer Jennifer L. Eugenio presented updates during the Treasurer’s Hour. An Open Forum gave parents and stakeholders the opportunity to raise concerns, ask questions, and share suggestions. Votations for Insurance matters and Scouting Registration process were also presented. The first part concluded with a closing prayer led by Virginia P. Lagotao, Kindergarten–Agility Adviser.

The second part featured the Card Giving for Grades 1–6, allowing parents to review and discuss their children’s academic performance with their respective teachers and advisers.

Through the activity, Kias Elementary School reaffirmed its commitment to shared responsibility, transparency, open communication, and active parental involvement in promoting the academic success and holistic development of every learner.

𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗| 𝗞𝗔𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗣𝗔𝗬: 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲—𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀

BAGUIO CITY- Kias Elementary School conducted KAAGAPAY: Positive Discipline—Ethical Life through Core Values on September 21, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The activity brought together parents, faculty and staff, and other school stakeholders in a meaningful learning session intended to strengthen the partnership between the home, school, and community in guiding learners toward responsible behavior, sound decision-making, and good character.

The main session, “Positive Discipline: Ethical Life through Core Values,” was facilitated by Dr. Gleemoore C. Makie, Resource Speaker. The presentation centered on the idea that discipline should not merely compel children to obey but should help them understand why certain actions are right and gradually develop the ability to choose what is right even without supervision. The session emphasized that ethical life involves good character, responsible choices, healthy relationships, and concern for others.

The presentation emphasized that positive discipline guides, teaches, explains, corrects with respect, and develops self-discipline, unlike negative discipline, which often relies on fear, punishment, humiliation, and control. It connected positive discipline with the DepEd Core Values of Maka-Diyos, Maka-Tao, Makakalikasan, and Makabansa, showing how ethical principles such as empathy, respect for dignity and rights, restorative practices, good character, Filipino and Indigenous values, and self-control can guide children toward responsible decision-making and proper behavior.

The event successfully concluded through the guidance of School Head, NickCarter Junior C. Gonzalo and collaboration of faculty and staff of Kias Elementary School facilitated by Maam Desiree Ann Domerez, KAAGAPAY School Coordinator.

Through KAAGAPAY, Kias Elementary School strengthened its commitment to nurturing a supportive partnership among the school, families, and community toward the development of responsible, respectful, compassionate, and values-oriented learners—reflecting the program's message of “Stronger Families Build Brighter Learners” and “Together for a Brighter Future.”

The Peso Smart Program was successfully launched at Kias Elementary School, on September 18, 2026, bringing together parents, partners and Grade 6 learners in another meaningful initiative toward strengthening financial literacy among learners.

The activity aimed to equip learners with essential knowledge, skills, and practical habits that will help them save wisely, make responsible financial decisions, and work toward a more secure financial future.

The program was enriched by the valuable insights shared by the resource speakers: Edna P. Odsinada, Project Manager; Sundae Fate G. Fronteras, Project Officer; and Corazon Sanchez Atayde of Memorial Foundation, Inc.

Kias Elementary School’s participation was made possible through the guidance and support of School Head NickCarter Junior C. Gonzalo, together with the Grade 6 teacher-facilitators Claire Joyce Bangguiyao, Carolyn Medina, and Desiree Ann Domerez.

Through initiatives such as Peso Smart, Kias Elementary School continues to support programs that prepare learners not only for academic success but also for making wise and responsible decisions in everyday life.

KIAS, BAGUIO CITY — Kias Elementary School strengthened its commitment to providing a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment through “KAAGAPAY: Building a Safe School Community: Bullying Awareness and Substance Abuse Prevention,” held on September 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The activity gathered Grades 4 to 6 learners, parents, faculty, and staff for an informative discussion on bullying prevention and the dangers of substance abuse.

The program featured PCpl Maricel F. Chaluyen and PMSg Conrad Steve Malaga of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Station 4 as resource speakers. They discussed important information on recognizing, preventing, and responding to bullying, while emphasizing the responsibility of learners to treat others with respect and report harmful behavior to trusted adults.

The resource speakers also raised awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse on a person’s health, relationships, education, and future. Learners were encouraged to make responsible decisions, resist negative peer influence, and seek guidance from their parents, teachers, and other trusted adults whenever they encounter difficult situations.

School Head Nickcarter Junior C. Gonzalo emphasized the importance of cooperation among the school, parents, learners, and community partners in maintaining a safe school environment.

Maam Desiree Ann S. Domerez, Grade 6 Adviser and KAAGAPAY coordinator guided the flow of activity. An open forum facilitated by Carolyn G. Medina provided participants with an opportunity to ask questions and clarify concerns related to bullying and substance abuse.

In her closing remarks, Maam Roselyn Ann Lapeña, Primary Master Teacher underscored the value of awareness, discipline, and collective responsibility in protecting children from harmful behaviors and influences.
Through the KAAGAPAY program, Kias Elementary School continues to strengthen partnerships with families and community stakeholders in promoting the message “Safe Learners • Healthy Choices • Brighter Futures.” The activity served as a reminder that building a safe school community requires everyone to work together in nurturing learners who are informed, responsible, respectful, and empowered to make positive choices.

Kias Elementary School successfully conducted the KAAGAPAY Task Force Orientation on September 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM, bringing together SPTA officers, HRPTA presidents, SELG officers, faculty, and staff, barangay officials and partners in a shared effort to strengthen cooperation among the school, parents, learners, and community partners.

School Head, Sir Nickcarter Junior C. Gonzalo welcomed the participants and provided an overview of the KAAGAPAY Program, explaining how it will be implemented in the school. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among teachers, parents, learners, and community stakeholders in ensuring that school programs effectively respond to the needs of the pupils.

Nathaniel S. Felipe, SPTA President, introduced the resource speaker, Peter O. Wasing, FPTA President, who led the KAAGAPAY Task Force discussion. Wasing highlighted the importance of the KAAGAPAY Program, particularly the significant roles and responsibilities of parents as members of the task force. He stressed that parents serve as important partners of the school in maintaining a safe, disciplined, and learner-friendly environment. He further emphasized that the welfare and best interests of the learners will always remain the priority of the program.

Adding to the discussion, Maria Theresa Calalo shared valuable insights on the important role parents play in the formation of learners’ behaviour, values, and character. She underscored that children’s development becomes stronger when the values taught at school are continuously reinforced at home.

The orientation was further enriched by the presence of Barangay Kias Captain Victor O. Benlingan Jr. and PMSg Conrad Steve Maganon Malaga of BCPO Station 4, who shared their insights and expressed support for initiatives that promote the safety, discipline, and well-being of learners. Their participation highlighted the importance of strong partnerships between the school, families, barangay officials, and law-enforcement personnel.

An open forum facilitated by Maam Cathy Claire D. Danalo gave participants an opportunity to clarify concerns and share ideas regarding the implementation of the program. Maam Delia B. Benito, Faculty President, delivered the closing remarks, while Jezreel L. Maske, Intermediate Teacher, led the closing prayer.

Through the KAAGAPAY Task Force Orientation, Kias Elementary School reaffirmed its commitment to building a stronger partnership with families and the community in creating a safe, supportive, and values-centered learning environment.
