The Asia and Pacific Seed Association (APSA) was established in 1994, through the cooperation of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and DANIDA, with the aim of promoting quality seed production and marketing in the Asia and Pacific Region. It has strong links with international organisations such as FAO, CGIAR institutions, ISF, ISTA, UPOV, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and D

evelopment, the World Trade Organization, among others. APSA members include national seed associations, government agencies, public and private seed companies, and associate members. OUR MISSION

Sustainable agriculture through the production and trade of quality seeds for the world. WHAT DOES APSA DO? Organise the Asian Seed Congress, regional seminars or conferences to provide a forum for the industry to address priority seed sector development, policy and trade issues, and make presentations. ii. Compile and/or generate for dissemination among members technical and market-related information. iii. Assist in the development of training courses through matching of needs and potentials, materials preparation, and mobilisation of resources. iv. Liaise as appropriate with other regional and international organisations concerned with seed. v. Develop position papers to provide input for the development and/or change of rules and regulations for seed and seed-related issues in the Region. vi. Engage in other activities that may be required to achieve the Association's objectives. OUR OBJECTIVES

A. Maintain and sustain a regional forum, such as the Asian Seed Congress, for APSA members to address their needs and formulate positions and recommendations on seed issues to improve seed sector performance. B. Promote the development of the seed industry for the betterment of crop production in the Region and promote the use of quality seed. C. Stimulate technical and business co-operation among members. Share information and experience between and among APSA members on all aspects of seed activities. D. Represent the interests of APSA members at regional and international levels. Establish and maintain relationships with other relevant organisations pursuing similar or related objectives. E. Encourage the establishment of Seed Associations in the Region and support their development. F. Facilitate the international movement and marketing of seeds and planting material through various actions addressing the issues of relevance to the regional seed industry including quarantine and other trade issues. G. Facilitate and contribute to the harmonisation of regulatory procedures for seed and seed related issues toward internationally accepted standards. H. Promote the establishment and protection of intellectual property rights for seeds, plant varieties and associated technologies.

From field hygiene and sanitation to post-harvest handling and operational risk reduction, preventive practices play a critical role in supporting healthy seed production and safe seed movement across borders.

On July 24, the APSA Standing Committee on Seed Technology and the International Seed Federation host a webinar on this earlier stage of risk management featuring Dr. Rose Souza Richards: Director, Phytosanitary Affairs and Seed Related Innovations from International Seed Federation and Mr. Hubert Lybeert: Seed Phytopathology Risk Manager of HM. Clause Seeds.

The seed companies of Antalya have agreed to open their doors for ASC 2026 delegates, bringing you face to face with some of the most active breeding and production operations in the region.

Tour 1, delegates will visit Yuksel Seeds (85+ export markets, 900+ varieties, six research and production stations across Türkiye) followed by İSTANBUL TARIM , home of the DELTA SEED brand and one of Türkiye's most established hybrid vegetable 🌶️ 🍅 🥒 🍈 breeding programs ending the trip at Genetika Seeds. Tour 2 takes a different route: Rijk Zwaan, and Syngenta, covering traditional breeding through to AI-driven variety development in a single afternoon.

APSA is hiring a Technical Lead.

We're looking for an experienced seed & ag expert to lead our technical team in driving APSA’s regulatory and policy advocacy work and growing APSA as a knowledge hub for the Asia-Pacific seed sector.

You will set direction across our priority regulatory areas: phytosanitary measures, plant breeding innovation, intellectual property, and access to germplasm. You will also supervise APSA’s knowledge programs for members and enhance partnerships to deliver programs. The role will work closely with our Standing Committees and Special Interest Groups, and lead our technical team based in Bangkok.

Candidates should bring 8-10 years of experience in regulatory affairs, policy advocacy, or technical program management, ideally in seed, agriculture, or biosciences. A Master's or PhD in a related field is required, along with leadership experience engaging governments and industry stakeholders at a senior level.

Based in Bangkok, Thailand. Reports to the Executive Director. Open until July 15, 2026.

Bangkok, Thailand — APSA's Executive Committee met in Bangkok last week for the Q2 EC meeting, with the agenda spanning institutional partnerships, regulatory consultations, financial sustainability, and better outreach to members in both major and emerging countries.

The meeting showed continued progress on APSA's three strategic pillars: reinforcing thought leadership in the region through advocacy, becoming an active knowledge hub, creating value through the Asian Seed Congress and other member programs, driving membership growth, and expanding the Secretariat's role and capabilities.

On the Congress front, Thasta Thai Seed TradeAssociation confirmed the venue for the : the newly renovated Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok. Centrally located and connected with the metro system, the venue has capacity for a full trading floor, exhibition, main stage, and meeting rooms. A range of hotels from 3 to 5 star ratings are available within 5 kms of the venue.

But before that, the APSA Executive Committee and Secretariat welcome all of you to the in Turkiye. Together with our NOC, preparations are well underway for an awesome Congress!
