⚡ Celebrating 32 Years of Service to Rural Alaska
After 32 years of dedicated service, we want to take a moment to thank Bill Stamm for the incredible impact he has made across Rural Alaska.

For more than three decades, Bill has been part of the work that happens behind the scenes to keep the lights on in villages across our region. From power plants and equipment to the people who depend on them, his work has helped keep essential electricity flowing to the places we call home.

Rural Alaska is not always easy to serve. Our communities are spread across vast distances, accessible by planes, boats, snowmachines and barges, and our power systems face challenges that many communities never experience. Through it all, Bill has been there — helping keep the power running and supporting the people of Rural Alaska.

His 32 years represent more than a career. They represent dedication, reliability, service and a commitment to the communities we serve.

Safety training in action! ⚡️

Being prepared for the unexpected is an important part of keeping our crews safe. Safety, training and teamwork help bring everyone home safely. 🦺⚡️

Big things are happening behind the scenes to strengthen AVEC’s power system in Shageluk.

This self-contained controls module, built in Anchorage, is headed to Shageluk as part of a critical infrastructure upgrade. The module houses the plant’s engine and system controllers, switchgear, and station service panels—essentially, the electrical “brain” of the power plant.

From Anchorage to Rural Alaska, AVEC continues to invest in the infrastructure needed to keep our communities powered today—and prepare them for the energy systems of tomorrow.

The Board of Directors of Alaska Village Electric Cooperative, Inc. is considering tariff adjustments which include changes in Customer, Energy and Demand Charges for each of its service areas.

If approved by the AVEC board the proposed rate changes would apply to electric service used on or after November 1, 2026. The specific proposed rate changes for Bethel, Yakutat, and All Other locations are attached to this notice.

There will be a Public Hearing on September 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., held telephonically. The purpose of the Public Hearing is for (1) management to explain the rate changes and why they
are needed and (2) for members to ask questions and make statements regarding the
proposed rate changes. The Board of Directors will consider the information from the Public
Hearing in deciding whether to approve, disapprove or modify the proposed rate changes.

The list of rate adjustments, public hearing agenda and teleconference information are
available at the AVEC office and on the AVEC website, www.avec.org. Please contact the AVEC office at 907-561-1818 or 800-478-1818 or [email protected] for more information.
