The Vision Zero strategy aims to establish a culture of personal responsibility where motor vehicle fatalities and serious injuries are recognized as preventable and not tolerated. Every driver and vehicle occupant in North Dakota can help meet the Vision Zero goal by taking personal responsibility when traveling on the road. This means wearing a seat belt at all times, transporting children in ch

ild passenger safety seats appropriate for the child’s age, weight and height, driving distraction-free, driving sober (i.e. not under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs), and obeying all posted speed limits. Posting Policy:
The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) welcomes your participation and feedback in the form of comments, questions, and ideas on our social media pages. Please keep your posts courteous and appropriate for an open forum. Though social networks are available 24/7, our monitoring capabilities are not. Generally, NDDOT monitors all public posts and comments during regular business hours. DESCRIPTION

This week, partners from across the state gathered at the annual North Dakota Impaired Driving Conference with one shared mission: reducing impaired driving and saving lives on our roadways.

From impairment indicators and toxicology updates to emerging drug trends, attendees learned from subject matter experts, exchanged ideas, and built connections to address the evolving challenges of impaired driving and traffic safety.

Thank you to everyone who attended the conference AND thank you to those who are committed to preventing and raising awareness about this dangerous and deadly driving behavior. Your efforts are preventing tragedies, saving lives, and making North Dakota roads safer for everyone!

Driving Skills for Success is an event that brings young drivers in a controlled environment to learn the dangers of unsafe driving habits. This event teaches young drivers basic roadside vehicle maintenance, safe habits when driving, and the consequences of driving distracted or impaired.
