Today, the State Water Commission announced an additional $2M in livestock water supplies to meet the strong demand.

We have also amended the executive order to make the program available to producers in all North Dakota counties.

The intense demand for this water supply program demonstrates just how serious the drought situation is in North Dakota for our livestock producers.

Communities thrive when they invest with vision, push past the loudest critics and build for the next generation. Great to see so many old friends at the Dickinson Area Chamber’s annual event highlight successful businesses and entrepreneurs that are keeping our western communities moving forward.

Congratulations to the 36 newest graduates of the North Dakota Law Enforcement Training Academy. You are the front line of public safety and protection for our communities and a big reason why North Dakota is the best place to live, work and raise a family. Thank you for making the choice to serve.

We’re honored to announce that the State of North Dakota has received the national Recovery Friendly Workplace certification, only the second state to receive this certification.

Thankful for everyone in our administration and those who came before us who have worked to reduce the stigma of addiction and help individuals find hope and employment in recovery.

Creating a supportive workplace for people in recovery is more than just good policy for filling open jobs in state government – it’s also the right thing to do.

The National Recovery Friendly Workplace Institute equips every employer to support employees in recovery. Learn about certification and join the movement.

Today, we appointed Tony Hillig, recreation division chief for the North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department, to serve as the department’s director.

With more than 32 years in the military and state government, Tony has proven to be a strong and capable leader and problem-solver. Under his guidance, Parks and Recreation will continue to provide the high level of service and quality outdoor experiences our citizens have come to know and expect.

Today, we continued constructive conversations with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe focused on natural resources and energy, public safety, health care, education, infrastructure and how the state and tribes can better partner on key issues.

Meaningful progress on these critical issues is important and begins with mutual respect and constant communication.

Thank you to Chairman Sitting Bear and the tribal council members for their collaboration.

The State Water Commission has activated a water supply assistance program for livestock producers as extremely dry conditions across North Dakota have resulted in a drought disaster.

This $2M in cost-share assistance supports eligible producers who want to invest in water projects that will help them through the current drought and make their operations more resilient against future droughts.

Our agencies will continue to explore every option for relief as drought conditions persist on the back of the sixth-warmest and 12th-driest July on record in North Dakota.

Program details, eligibility requirements and application information are available at dwr.nd.gov.

It was an honor to welcome senior leaders from the Ghana Armed Forces to the North Dakota Capitol today as we celebrate 20 years of partnership between North Dakota and the Republic of Ghana.

Through the North Dakota National Guard’s State Partnership Program, our two nations have built strong relationships rooted in trust, shared training and a commitment to security. We’re proud of what this partnership has accomplished over the past two decades and look forward to continuing to strengthen it for years to come.

From Capitol Hill to the State Capitol, Conner Swanson has navigated complex policy issues with skill and a depth of understanding that will serve North Dakotans well – a great example being his leadership on the Rural Health Transformation Program deploying hundreds of millions of dollars in federal grants to improve health outcomes across our state.

We look forward to Conner building on the work of outgoing Commissioner Pat Traynor and the team at ND Health and Human Services to make North Dakota the healthiest state in the nation.

Off to a great start. Let's keep it going.

The first enrollment cycle of the Governor’s Legacy Soil Health and Habitat Program shows there is strong interest from landowners.
