⚾ Field(s) of the Week Friday | Aaron Cook Fields at Chimney Park 📍 Windsor, Colorado

Every diving catch, sprint around the bases, and close play at home starts with the field beneath the athlete.

This week, we’re spotlighting this 296,310-square-foot baseball and softball fields featuring SPRINTURF, Brock ShockPad SP14XL, and BrockFILL organic infill.

Why do shock pads matter on the diamond? Baseball and softball demand a surface that supports both the athlete and the ball's behavior. The complete system needs to balance impact absorption under players with appropriate ball bounce and pace.

Brock’s shock pad provides a dedicated impact-absorbing layer beneath the turf, while BrockFILL works within the surface—each component contributing to a system engineered for the game.

A field’s opening day gets the photos. What happens in year eight deserves questions, too.

For this Tech Thursday, let’s talk about a question worth asking before a synthetic turf field is built:
“How will we know it’s still performing years from now?”

A field experiences seasons of practices, games, weather, and maintenance. An installation-day test provides a starting point. Ongoing testing helps tell the rest of the story.

When evaluating a field, ask:
🔍 What performance measurements were recorded when it opened?
📋 How often will the complete system be tested?
📈 How will results be compared over time?
🛠️ What findings will trigger maintenance or further evaluation?

At Brock, our focus extends beyond the ribbon cutting. It’s why we study impact performance, durability, and how the components beneath the turf work together over time.

Because the child stepping onto a field eight years from now deserves the same thoughtful attention as the first athlete who played on it.

Testimonial Tuesday | Southeast Whitfield High School

How does a field feel and play after installation? At Southeast Whitfield High School in Dalton, Georgia, Athletic Director Stephen Stacy points to two things he’s noticed: the field feels cooler than rubber infill fields he’s experienced, and its speed and ball play feel natural.

🏈 FIELD OF THE WEEK FRIDAY: Northwestern University | Ryan Fieldhouse

This week, we’re spotlighting Wilson Field inside Northwestern University’s Ryan Fieldhouse in Evanston, Illinois. With its sweeping roof and views of Lake Michigan, this indoor facility brings football, soccer, lacrosse, and other athletic activities together under one roof.

A founding member of the Big Ten, Northwestern combines a proud athletic tradition with academic excellence. And the Wildcats have momentum this fall: Northwestern football is 4–1 following a 45–14 homecoming victory over Ball State.

Behind those game-day moments are countless hours of preparation—and the surfaces athletes train on matter.
