Exciting news for the future of the Chardon Senior Center!
On May 12, 2026, the Geauga County Board of Commissioners approved the $3.2 million purchase of the Geauga County Public Library Administration Building at 12701 Ravenwood Drive recognizing the acquisition as a significant, forward-looking investment in services for older adults in Geauga County.
We are truly excited about this opportunity and what it means for the future of senior services in our community.
This purchase was made possible through a $2.6 million Revolving Loan Fund Community and Economic Development Block Grant.
In the near term, the Geauga County Public Library will continue to occupy the building for administrative operations through June 30, 2027, as they transition into their new Chardon Branch and consolidate operations. This allows for a smooth transition while maintaining full use of the facility.
Once the Library relocates, the Geauga County Department on Aging will begin renovations to transform the building into a permanent Chardon Senior Center.
This is an especially exciting milestone, as it represents the first time in many years that we will have a permanent senior center designed to support the evolving needs of older adults in Geauga County.
Long-term, the building will serve as the County’s permanent senior center for the Chardon service area. It will provide expanded space for nutrition programs, wellness and chronic disease management, fitness and health education, social engagement opportunities, and other services that promote independence, connection, and quality of life for older adults.
This investment aligns both with our mission and with the State Plan on Aging and reflects a shared commitment to strengthening services that support healthy, active aging in our community.
We are very excited about the opportunities this facility will provide, not only to enhance current programming, but to grow and expand services for years to come.
We also deeply appreciate the collaboration with the Geauga County Public Library throughout this process, and we look forward to continuing to share updates as planning and renovations progress.
