We are currently experiencing near white out conditions! Please use extreme caution if you have to venture out. Slow down and please move over for emergency vehicles! We would like to make it home safe to our families for Christmas Eve!
Winter is here and snow is coming! That means it's time for us to break out our snow plowing fleet. The only problem is... none of our snow plowing trucks have names :(
As you can imagine, it's hard to get into that winter spirit when you have nameless snow plows, which is where you come in! Help us name our six snow plows by dropping name suggestions in the comments below!
Happy Holidays from our office to your family! Our township offices will be closed starting December 23rd and will re-open on December 28th 🎄
Last chance to get in on the action! Our community gift exchange ends tomorrow 🎁
A message from the Road Commission:
GCRC prepared for winter storm
FLINT, Mich. - As we anticipate the first big snowfall of the year, the Genesee County Road Commission is sharing how it responds to winter storms, including its communication and how roads are maintained.
The Road Commission’s salt barns are stocked with plenty of material, and crews are changing out the blades on trucks. The Road Commission has over 60 plow trucks available in its fleet. GCRC offices are closed for non-essential operations on Friday, December 23; however, employees are on standby to come in and address winter conditions.
“Our objective is to keep the roads safe for drivers,” said GCRC Managing Director Fred Peivandi. “Maintenance staff will monitor conditions 24/7 and direct employees to respond accordingly.”
Roads are cleared based on the level of traffic volume. State highways are the first priority. The second priority is primary roads and the third is local roads. Once those roads are passable, subdivision roads are cleared.
Drivers are reminded to leave plenty of space between their vehicles and snow plows. Please follow GCRC’s page for up-to-date information. If you have questions, please contact Kylie Dontje, Communications Coordinator, at 810-767-4920 ext. 232.
It's outdoor burning season! Please take some time to review these safety guidelines:
🔥Only burn logs, tree limbs, clean lumber, and brush. Leaves, grass clippings, and other materials are prohibited during open burn season
🔥Do not use petroleum-based products to start the fire. You could receive a fine or jail time for this.
🔥Burning must be on your property or with the written consent of the property owners
🔥The responsible party is to assure the fire does not endanger structures, vehicles, ground cover, or valuables. You are liable for all damage to property, which may occur as a result of the burning being done.
As a reminder, a responsible adult must be always present and wind speeds must be under 10 MPH. Our fire department can restrict outdoor burning at any time. If you have any questions, drop 'em below or visit our website for more information: https://www.twp.grand-blanc.mi.us/262/Outdoor-Burning-Guidelines
