Genesee County Treasurer The Genesee County Treasurer’s Office functions as the County’s bank and spearheads the dog licensing and delinquent property tax programs. The Genesee County Treasurer’s Office functions as the County’s bank.

The Treasurer receives annual revenue from deposits totaling $494 million from other County departments, various local, state and federal agencies and delinquent taxes. In addition to serving as the County’s bank, the Treasurer’s Office spearheads the Genesee County dog licensing and delinquent property tax programs, and serves as Chairperson to the Land Bank Authority.

Effective Monday of this week, we increased our hours to 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments are now required to make tax payments, purchase dog licenses or pay transfer tax on real estate transactions.

Appointments can be made by accessing the link on the County Treasurer’s website at www.geneseecountytreasurer.com or by calling our office at (810) 257-3054.

In addition, the Treasurer's office has installed a drop box for the added safety and convenience for taxpayers and County staff. The 24-hour drop box is located at the Beach Street entrance and will accept items like payments, dog license applications or hardship applications. If you are making a payment, please do not put cash in the drop box and be sure to include your parcel number or address on your check or money order.

With under $450,000 remaining in Loan Rescue funds, Step Forward Michigan (SFM) is announcing that no new applications will be accepted after October 31, 2020.

SFM staff will continue to process applications received by the deadline, however applicant eligibility must be determined by no later than December 31, 2020.Visit Step Forward Michigan online at https://www.stepforwardmichigan.org/en/ or call 866-946-7432 to find out if you may be eligible for a five-year forgivable loan that has a 0% interest rate, and no monthly payments.

The Genesee County Treasurer's Office will be closed on October 1 & 2, 2020 for system maintenance. During this closure, online payments as well as in person payments will not be available. However, payments can still be made by mailing to 1101 Beach St, Flint MI 48502 or by using our new drop box located by the glass entrances off Beach Street, the front of the Genesee County Administration Building. Payments should be made payable to the Genesee County Treasurer and must include your parcel number or address. Our office will still be available to answer any questions at (810)257-3054. Just a reminder the Genesee County Treasurer’s office will accept partial payments on delinquent taxes. Payments can be made online, by mail or by visiting our office. The Genesee County Treasurer’s Office continues to be closed to the public in accordance with the Governor’s Executive Order. If you need a dog license, please mail in proof of rabies vaccination and payment to our office. We are currently working with minimal staff, therefore, the processing is slow. All delinquent dog license fees will be waived during this time of closure. If you have mailed in an application over the last couple months, please be patient, all applications for dog licenses will be processed once we are back to operating at full staff.

Genesee treasurer says no foreclosures during coronavirus crisis

"Our community is facing a public health emergency, and we need to come together to protect our most vulnerable citizens. I want everyone in Genesee County to focus their attention on staying healthy and preventing the spread of this virus, not on whether or not they could lose their home," said Cherry. "Preventing foreclosure and keeping families in their home has always been my priority, but this year it is important that extraordinary measures be implemented."

Genesee County Teasurer Deb Cherry says no homeowners here will lose their property to tax foreclosure this year because of circumstances related to COVID-19.

The second town hall meeting will be held today from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church located at 3502 Lapeer Rd in Flint.

The third meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, January 14 at the Mt Morris (Krapohl) Senior Center from 1:00 -2:30 p.m.

The final meeting will be on Thursday, January 16 at the Mundy Township Hall from 4:30p.m - 6:30 p.m.

The Michigan State Housing Development Authority will be closing its Step Forward online application on December 1, 2019. You can apply at www.StepForwardMichigan.org or by calling 866-946-7432 until then. However, after December 1, they will continue to accept and process completed paper applications on a first come first serve basis. We encourage any homeowner who needs assistance with their delinquent taxes to submit an application.

Step Forward has assisted approximately 800 Genesee County homeowners paying $3.9 million in delinquent taxes.

Please see the post below from the Genesee County Board of Commissioners. Unfortunately The Treasurer’s Office is one of the departments affected by this attack. We are unable to accept payments or access any information regarding property taxes. We advise taxpayers to contact our office at (810) 257-3054 prior to coming down.

The scope of the attack on Genesee County has turned out to be more extensive than initially thought. While the encryption of data has occurred, the evidence continues to show that no data has been released.

Protecting our data continues to be our primary focus.

As such, Genesee County continues to assess, with our partners, the best way to restore regular operations.

Residents should be aware that services will be extremely limited for some time as we work to rectify this attack.

This is going to be a slow and deliberate process. We appreciate your patience during this time.

The Genesee County Treasurer’s office will be closed on Thursday, January 31, 2019.

Due to the continued frigid temperatures and because of a Mandated Natural Gas Curtailment Notification from Consumers Energy, Chairman Henry, in consultation with Sheriff Pickell and Judge Yuille, has ordered all Genesee County offices closed for Thursday January 31, 2019.

Non-essential staff should not report until their regularly scheduled shift on Friday.

All essential staff, including GVRC, Office of the Sheriff, Building & Grounds, Motor Pool and Animal Control should continue with their regularly scheduled shifts.

Any further notice will be sent via text alert, social media and local media.
