Naval Station Mayport

Naval Station Mayport Welcome to the Naval Station Mayport page. We are one of three major Navy installations in the Jacksonville area. Navy!

At Mayport, we sustain and enhance warfighter readiness by providing support to the Fleet, Sailors and military families. We are the “Finest Service to the Finest Fleet.”

Since its commissioning in December 1942, Naval Station Mayport has grown to become the third largest Fleet Concentration Area in the continental United States. Mayport’s operational composition is unique, with an active basin c

apable of accommodating up to 34 ships and an 8,000-foot runway that can handle any aircraft in the Department of War inventory. With more than 3,400 acres, the Naval Station is host to more than 80 tenant commands, including 20+ Navy ships, Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadrons (HSM) 40, 48 and 50, and the Navy's first unmanned UAS squadron, VUP-19. The base is situated at the mouth of the St. Johns River and the Atlantic Ocean near the small fishing village of Mayport, Florida, and neighboring Atlantic Beach, Florida. The warm climate here makes it ideal for year-round outdoor recreation, including boating, camping, fishing and water sports. Although Jacksonville has nearly 1 million residents, including 225,000 with Navy affiliation, the population is spread over a large geographic area, providing ample residential areas. Checking-In:

Temporary base visitor passes are issued at the Pass and ID (AKA Pass and Decal) office in the security building just before the main gate. The installation quarterdeck is in Naval Station Mayport Headquarters Building 1 (on Massey Avenue across from Navy Federal Credit Union). Personnel with PCS orders to Naval Station Mayport should report there on arrival. Those reporting to a tenant command should report to that command’s quarterdeck. Personnel ordered to a ship should report directly to their ship, if in port. If the ship is not in port, check in with Naval Station Mayport's quarterdeck at Bldg 1 for assistance. You must be in uniform when checking-in. The service dress blue uniform is universally accepted as a travel uniform and may be worn at check-in, regardless of season. Ombudsman Assistance:
Naval Station Mayport Ombudsman can be reached at (904) 563-1251 or at [email protected]. Today we had our Galley Appreciation Day meal!🍽️

We had Sailors from other departments take over duties in the galley and made a special meal for the galley staff, both uniformed and civilian. The commanding officer and executive officer also took the time to thank them for everything they do for our Sailors everyday!

Thank you for all you do at the 🌴Oasis Galley!🌴

Today starts Ombudsman Appreciation Month. Since 1970 the ombudsmen have stood the watch over Navy Families. Mayport has over 42 Command Ombudsmen that serve thousands of family members and Sailors. The ombudsman is the direct link between the Commanding Officer and the families. They help with not only resources that the families need daily but are trained in crisis response to guide families during emergencies.

If you know an ombudsman, please thank them!!!
