🚰 **HARRIS HARBOR WATER UPDATE #2** 🚰

Good news! Today's repair efforts appear to have been successful.

Docks & Harbors staff will be flushing the Harris Harbor water system beginning at 7:00 AM on Friday, June 19, for approximately one hour. Following the system flush, water samples will be collected and delivered to a certified laboratory for testing.

If testing results are satisfactory, we anticipate restoring full potable water service to Harris Harbor by Friday afternoon, June 19.

We appreciate everyone's patience, understanding, and cooperation while we worked through this unexpected outage. We know the loss of water service has been an inconvenience, and we are grateful for the support and flexibility shown by our harbor users throughout the repair process.

We will provide another update as soon as laboratory results are received.

Thank you,

CBJ Docks & Harbors

HARRIS HARBOR WATER SERVICE UPDATE

June 17, 2026

Due to a break in the Harris Harbor water main, potable water service remains unavailable throughout the harbor.

Docks & Harbors staff continue to work on temporary repair options while we await delivery of permanent replacement hoses. Unfortunately, supply chain delays have extended the expected delivery timeline.

Temporary Water Service Available Beginning June 18

To help minimize the inconvenience, temporary potable water service will be available at the base of the Harris Harbor gangway beginning Thursday morning, June 18.

We hope to provide a more detailed update and estimated repair timeline later in the day on June 18.

We understand this outage has been disruptive and appreciate your patience as we work to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.

Today, CBJ Docks & Harbors celebrated the completion of the Aurora Harbor Phase IV Improvements Project with a ribbon cutting ceremony and National Maritime Day celebration at Aurora Harbor.

This project marks the completion of the multi-phase recapitalization of Aurora Harbor, replacing aging infrastructure with modern floats, utilities, electrical systems, approach docks, and upgraded moorage facilities that will serve Juneau’s waterfront community for decades to come.

We were especially honored to welcome Federal Maritime Commission Chair Laura DiBella to Juneau for this event. Chair DiBella joined local, state, and federal partners in recognizing the importance of Alaska’s maritime infrastructure and had the honor of cutting the ribbon to officially mark the completion of the project.

The Aurora Harbor recapitalization has been years in the making and represents a major investment in the safety, reliability, and future of Juneau’s harbor system. Thank you to everyone who attended today’s ceremony and to the many contractors, engineers, harbor staff, partners, and community members who helped make this project a reality.

Following the ceremony, attendees enjoyed a customer appreciation cookout celebrating both National Maritime Day and the continued revitalization of Juneau’s working waterfront.

Yesterday, CBJ Docks & Harbors celebrated the completion of the Don D. Statter Harbor Phase IIID Improvements Project with a ribbon cutting ceremony and customer appreciation event at Statter Harbor. 🎉⚓

This project represents the latest chapter in a long-term vision for improving one of Juneau’s busiest recreational boating facilities. Since the original master planning efforts began in 2006, Docks & Harbors has completed major improvements throughout Statter Harbor including a new launch ramp, expanded parking, float expansions, dredging and blasting work, a new seawall, and updated restroom facilities.

The new Phase III improvements include uplands paving, curbing, lighting, landscaping, and a new covered waiting area designed to better serve the growing Statter Harbor community while reducing congestion and improving the overall visitor experience. The covered shelter will provide protection from Southeast Alaska weather for both residents and visitors and features durable low-maintenance construction with exposed timber beams, tongue-and-groove ceilings, natural lighting, and energy-efficient LED fixtures.

This project would not have been possible without the partnership and hard work of PND Engineers, Dawson Construction, Compass Construction, Sunny Slope Farm, SE Earthmovers, Juneau Electric, RESPEC, and the many individuals who contributed to bringing this vision to reality.

The facility proudly carries the name of Don D. Statter, whose decades of work in Alaska waterfront development and harbor infrastructure helped shape many of the facilities we continue to rely on today.

CBJ Docks & Harbors would like to thank the boating community, project partners, contractors, staff, and the public for their continued support throughout this project.

This morning, CBJ Docks & Harbors had the opportunity to celebrate the completion of the Taku Harbor Improvements Project with a ribbon cutting ceremony at beautiful Taku Harbor.

This important project replaced the aging and degraded shore access boarding float with a new aluminum gangway and catwalk structure, greatly improving public recreational boating and sport fishing access at the facility. The new infrastructure provides safer and more reliable access from the Docks & Harbors managed floats to the Tongass National Forest and the ADNR Tiger Olson Cabin.

The project was awarded to Trucano Construction in June 2025 and funded through the Dingell-Johnson Sport Fish Restoration Grant Program, along with local funding support from the CBJ 2022 1% Sales Tax initiative and CBJ Harbors Enterprise Funds.

Taku Harbor is a truly special place in Southeast Alaska. It is enjoyed by many Juneau residents, transient boaters traveling the Inside Passage, recreational users, and serves as an important harbor of safe refuge for commercial fishermen and mariners seeking shelter from Southeast Alaska weather. Projects like this help ensure Taku Harbor continues serving the boating public for many years to come.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who helped make this project a success, including our project partners, contractors, engineers, State and Federal agencies, the Docks & Harbors Board, and all those who made the trip down to celebrate this achievement with us today.

A special thank you to:
• Trucano Construction
• PND Engineers
• Global Diving & Salvage
• Dowl
• Sailfin Marine Consulting
• Mantle Industries
• Alaska Department of Natural Resources
• Alaska Department of Fish & Game

We are very fortunate to have completed this project and grateful for the partnerships that helped bring it to reality.

⚓ See you at Taku Harbor.
