📣 Public Support Requested for Echo Cove Boarding Float Project
The City & Borough of Juneau's application for funding to construct a new boarding float at the Echo Cove Launch Ramp is now open for public comment!
If you've ever launched a boat at Echo Cove, you know the challenges. The existing launch ramp does not have a boarding float, requiring many boaters to board from a trailer or climb into their vessel while standing in cold tidal waters. This project would install a modern boarding float extending approximately 80 feet beyond the existing ramp, making launching and retrieving boats safer, more efficient, and more accessible for everyone who uses Echo Cove.
While this project was developed to improve access for hunters and trappers traveling to Berners Bay and surrounding areas, the improvements would also benefit anglers, recreational boaters, commercial operators, and all users of the facility.
The Alaska Department of Fish & Game is accepting public comments on this and the other Hunter Access Program grant applications through 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026.
How You Can Help
If you support this project, please consider submitting a brief comment explaining why a boarding float at Echo Cove is important to you. Personal comments describing how you use the facility and how these improvements would benefit you are especially valuable.
