After 29 years of dedicated service to the Troy community, the Troy Police Department proudly announces the retirement of Sergeant David Farley.

Sgt. Farley began his law enforcement career with the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department as a Corrections and Transport Officer before joining the Troy Police Department, where he built a distinguished and respected career. Throughout his time with TPD, Sgt. Farley served in numerous roles including Patrol Officer, Evidence Technician, Detective, Patrol Supervisor, and most recently as the department’s Tech Sergeant.

Known for his professionalism, analytical approach, and commitment to excellence, Sgt. Farley’s work has contributed to countless successful investigations and technological advancements within the department. He has also been a valued mentor to many members throughout his career.

Please join us in congratulating Sgt. Farley on his retirement and thanking him for his many years of honorable service. A walkout ceremony will be held on Friday, May 29th at 11:00 AM at the Troy Police Department, located at 55 State Street.

Troy Police Detectives are seeking the community’s assistance in locating a person of interest who Detectives would like to interview in connection to a homicide investigation.

Kean Wiggins (Age: 35, Albany) is a person of interest in regard to our ongoing investigation, Detectives would like to speak with him. If any community member has information regarding Mr. Wiggins’s location please contact the Lead Detective at (518) 270-4458. TPD Patrols responded to a shooting shortly after 12am in the Earl St Alley near Old 6th Ave. An adult male sustained a non-life-threatening injury. Detectives responded and have been investigating throughout the night. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer—it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance for those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy every day. We pause to recognize their courage, selflessness, and commitment to our nation.

Patrols have responded to Samaritan Hospital where an adult male has walked into the ER with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg. Currently the male is reporting he is unsure what area he was in when he was injured, and unsure how it happened.

Detectives are responding to further interview to determine if the incident occurred in Troy, if so where, and the circumstances surrounding the injury. There is no indication of any threat near/around Samaritan Hospital, there will be a police presence while we investigate.

Troy Police Patrols have not received any recent calls for shots fired, or any other reports that would relate to the individual having been injured. If you have information that would aid the investigation please call TPD at (518) 270-4411.

On behalf of the U.S. Marshal’s Albany Division of the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, which the Troy Police Department participates in:

ALBANY, N.Y. – On the afternoon of 05/19/2026, members of the U.S. Marshal’s Albany Division of the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Damani Murray in Troy on a parole violation. His underlying conviction was for criminal possession of a firearm.

As team members moved in to make the arrest, Murray discarded a firearm and attempted to flee on foot. After a brief chase, Murray was taken into custody. Investigators seized Ecstasy from Murray and recovered the handgun that was discarded by Murray.

In addition to the parole violation, Murray was charged with criminal possession of a loaded firearm, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Murray was transported to the Troy Police Department for processing and will be presented before a judge.

Early Tuesday morning Troy Police Detectives & Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office Investigators working together conducted a search warrant at a residence on 2nd St and seized over 175g of illegal narcotics.

Tuesday (05/19) morning around 6am the Troy Police Department Emergency Response Team, along with TPD Detectives & Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office Investigators, conducted a court-ordered search warrant at 499 2nd Street in connection to an ongoing illegal drug investigation. During the search a combination of illegal drugs were found & confiscated, over 175 grams in total. The drugs included crack co***ne laced with fentanyl, crack co***ne, fentanyl and he**in. No individuals were found inside the residence during the search warrant. The investigation remains ongoing.

The collaborative effort amongst law enforcement agencies is part of the larger collective effort focused on improving quality of life in the surrounding corridor. Community Police Officers continue their work with other city departments (Code/DPW/etc.) in the area to address issues, as well as including local non-profit support organizations to offer resources to those in need. Neighbors have supported these efforts by assisting in identifying problems, participating in resolutions and encouraging improvements in the area. Law enforcement’s efforts will continue, founded in a multi-faceted approach including enforcement, building awareness and offering support resources.

TPD Patrols have responded to an incident of shots fired, it occurred near Madison Ave/Dunham St and the area of Griswold Heights. No injuries have been reported at this time, There will be a police presence in the area while we interview witnesses and investigate further.

As an update to the earlier reported shooting in Troy that occurred on 05/06/26 inside an apartment at 750 2nd Avenue.

The adult female victim of the shooting, Shardonay Tyce (Age: 34, Albany), was transported to a local area hospital where she received intensive treatment for several days. On May 11th the victim died as a result of her injuries. The investigation, which began the night of the shooting and has continued since, is now being investigated as a homicide. We believe the incident began as a disturbance between two individuals, the victim and another, who are known to each other. Detectives are continuing to pursue a promising lead, while keeping the victim and her family on our minds. No arrests have been made at this time, the investigation is ongoing.

We will update as additional significant developments occur.
