I voted against the House GOP extreme border bill, because it is not a legitimate policy solution. House GOP would rather demonize migrants than meaningfully engage on immigration reform.

Read my full statement here:

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan (VA-04) voted against House Republicans’ extreme border bill to protect migrants and oppose harmful anti-immigrant policies.

Shirley Chisholm was born on this day in 1924.

As the first Black woman elected to Congress in 1968, she blazed the trail for me to become the first Black Congresswoman to represent Virginia.

Her legacy lives on in the record number of Black women serving in the 118th Congress.

Rosalynn Carter, who as first lady worked tirelessly on behalf of mental health reform and professionalized the role of the president’s spouse, died Sunday at the age of 96.
