The Expand QISET Act
I voted today to advance the Quantum Package, which includes the Expand QISET Act I introduced this month with Congressman Tom Kean. This act seeks to expand participation in STEM through multiple sectors, ensuring we gain access to new technologies.
Watch my remarks here:
We are in the midst of a national maternal and infant health crisis.
I introduced a bipartisan resolution to designate November as #PrematurityAwarenessMonth and raise awareness about the risks and challenges associated with preemie babies. Our children’s lives depend on it.
ICYMI: In my first “Moments with McClellan,” U.S. Senator Tim Kaine reflects on President Kennedy’s assassination and influence on his life.
Today, on the 60th anniversary of his death, we remember the continuing impact of JFK’s legacy.
This week, House Democrats delivered the necessary votes to avoid a government shutdown. Check out what else you may have missed.
As the mother to two young children in public school, I am appalled by MAGA Republicans’ draconian funding cuts for students, teachers, public schools, and mental health/substance abuse resources. I will continue to fight back against their extreme agenda.
This week, House Republicans continued their chaos.
Meanwhile, I had a productive week in DC working for VA’s 4th district!

Thanks to my work with Del. Mark Sickles in the General Assembly, the Virginia's Insurance Marketplace is now up and running to provide Virginians with tailored, affordable policies. https://bit.ly/3QkqFH8
Despite Republican chaos, it was a busy week in Washington.
And after 23 days, we have a Speaker.
Check out what you might have missed
This week, I was back with House Armed Services Committee Democrats to question the U.S. Navyand U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) on ways they are bolstering the submarine industrial base to support the AUKUS agreement, improve workforce development and implement new technologies.
After three weeks of Republican infighting and chaos, the House Republican Conference doubled down on MAGA extremism and elected Mike Johnson as Speaker.
While Republicans continue their extreme partisan agenda, House Democrats will fight to put People Over Politics.
For the fourth time, I proudly cast my vote for Congressman Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker.
Déjà vu all over again. #SpeakerWatch #ChaosCaucus
The House is 17 days without a Speaker, and Republican chaos continues. Jim Jordan is officially out as Republican Speaker nominee and they are back at square one.
It's time for a bipartisan path forward.
I just voted for Congressman Hakeem Jeffries again.
For the second day in a row and 13th time this Congress, Congressman Hakeem Jeffries received the most votes for Speaker of the House.
Meanwhile, Jim Jordan lost ground.
It’s time for a bipartisan path forward to get the House back to work.
Today, I cast my second vote for Congressman Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker of the House, along with every one of my House Democrats colleagues.
Meanwhile, Jim Jordan lost votes.
It's time for a bipartisan path forward to end this stalemate.
While Republicans continue their partisan politics and infighting, House Democrats remain unified in our support for Congressman Hakeem Jeffries as the 56th Speaker of the House. It's past time we elect a Speaker and get back to work on behalf of the American people.
I just proudly voted for Congressman Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker of the House!
It’s been 10 days since Kevin McCarthy was ousted as Speaker and House Republicans have yet to elect a new one. See what I was up to this week as I continue to deliver for the people I was elected to represent...
While House Republicans continue sowing chaos, House Democrats are ready to lead.
While the #ChaosCaucus attempted to drive Congress towards a government shutdown, I was proud to cast my vote for today's CR & protect hardworking Virginians & Americans across the country.
@HouseDemocrats have stood ready to put #PeopleOverPolitics.
We're less than 36 hours from a government shutdown, yet extreme MAGA Republicans continue to play political games. See how I spent this past week fighting to keep our government open.
American families shouldn’t pay the price for House Republicans’ inability to govern & #ChaosCaucus brinksmanship.
With just 3 days till a government shutdown, extreme MAGA Republicans must stop the political games & pass a bipartisan continuing resolution to fund the government.
Today House Science, Space, & Technology Committee-Democrats held a hearing with EPA Administrator Michael Regan to discuss science/tech activities at U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
My questions focused on EPA’s environmental justice activities and the impact a government shutdown would have on their important work protecting the environment and communities.
While House Democrats & I are still fighting to avoid a government shutdown, there was still a lot of work this week in Congress. Check out what I was up to…
We have 10 days to avoid a government shutdown, which would weaken the economy, disrupt crucial services & upend the lives of hardworking Americans.
Yet the #ChaosCaucus wing of the House Republican Caucus has caused the House to gridlock.
The maternal mortality and child care crises heavily impact Black, low-income, and single-parent families. It's past time to act on these intersectional crises.
Today I introduced with Congresswoman Nancy Mace The Child Care Assistance for Maternal Health Act.
My experiences as a working mother of two young children and a Black woman who faced pregnancy-related complications provide me with a profound insight into the challenges families encounter during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.
Rep. Mace and I are part of the only 6.8% of members of Congress who are mothers. I'm proud to introduce this bipartisan bill to improve the physical health, mental health, and wellness of mothers, babies, and families.

ICYMI: Yesterday I joined Rep. Terri Sewell, Congressman Joe Neguse, and House Democrats to reintroduce The John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
It's an honor to build on John Lewis's legacy. Voting rights are sacred, and this fight is personal.
MAGA Republicans loaded down our defense appropriations bill with provisions that undermine our military readiness, dismantle DEI efforts, & jeopardize our servicemembers' reproductive health.
Proud to stand with House Democrats to protect our military personnel's rights.
