This week, I introduced my SEVENTH bill to help support small businesses.

The “504 Program Level Flexibility Act,” would give the SBA flexibility to raise the level of financing available in the 504 loan program during times of high demand. 504 loans are vital for businesses and entrepreneurs financing major assets, such as property and equipment, and are a lifeline especially as the cost of doing business climbs higher. As a member of , I will never stop fighting for resources and protections for our small businesses.

California has long led the nation in protecting the health of our communities and cleaning up pollution from our ports and waterways. H.J.Res. 210 and H.J.Res. 213 would undermine California’s authority to require cleaner harbor craft, including ferries, tugboats, and workboats operating in our waters.

I joined my California Democratic delegation colleagues in calling for these protections to remain in place. Communities like Oakland, which already bear an outsized burden of pollution from ports and freight movement, deserve cleaner air, not another attempt to roll back California’s environmental standards.

I will continue standing with our communities and fighting to protect California’s ability to pursue cleaner air and a healthier future.

Today, I urged my colleagues in the Small Business Committee to support my new bill, the “504 Program Level Flexibility Act”.

This bill allows the SBA to adapt its funding authority to address high loan demand in real time, bringing the 504 Loan program up to parity with other SBA loan programs. This added flexibility will help small businesses in the East Bay and across the nation keep their doors open, make investments, and create jobs, even when economic conditions are tough and the need for financing support is high.

Recently, we welcomed Frontier back to Oakland and celebrated nonstop service from Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport (OAK) to Las Vegas at prices people can actually afford. As a member of the House Small Business Committee, I am especially committed to the economic success and vitality of Oakland. This is about making air travel accessible, bringing good paying jobs to Oakland, supporting small businesses, and keeping revenue here at home. There’s so much potential here in the East Bay, and when we work together, everyone wins.
