Today, I had the honor of recognizing Patriot Industries, of Louisa County, for being named the SBA's Virginia Manufacturer of the Year.

From small beginnings in a 1,000-square-foot facility to three manufacturing locations and nearly 100 employees, Patriot Industries exemplifies the innovation, hard work, and determination that drive American manufacturing.

Congratulations to Tom and Sarah Click and the entire Patriot team on this well-deserved recognition. Virginia's 5th District is proud to call you one of our own!

Meet Karstyn, she's joining me today for Foster Youth Shadow Day. As a former foster youth, I know what these young people go through. I'm grateful for the opportunity to hear Karstyn's experience and see what can be done to better support the foster care system.

Thank you to the National Foster Youth Institute for coordinating this shadowing program and for the advocation they do on behalf of foster kids. And thank you to Karstyn for your bravery, hard work, and compassion towards others.

Virginia farmers faced countless hurdles this year after severe weather and late-season freezes caused widespread crop damage across the Commonwealth. That's why I joined my colleagues in the Virginia Republican Delegation in urging Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins to approve Virginia's request for a USDA Secretarial Disaster Designation.

Agriculture remains a pillar of Virginia's economy and way of life. Securing this designation will help provide affected farmers with access to critical recovery resources so the 2% can get the support they need to feed the 98%.

Last week, House Armed Services Committee Republicans and I passed the FY27 National Defense Authorization Act through the Armed Services Committee. This critical legislation invests in the capabilities needed to maintain a strong U.S. posture. It delivers several wins like strengthening our nuclear deterrence, expanding our missile defense, and providing resources and authorities to counter adversaries like China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.
