As a part of our commitment to enhancing the educational experience, Center City PCS is thrilled to announce the opening of its new Makerspace for the 2024-2025 school year.
There are six dedicated labs at The Makerspace, where students can dive into hands-on projects and collaborate with peers to invent, create and iterate with the guidance and support of specialized lab coordinators.
Our Center City PCS Petworth campus is having a virtual student orientation this Thursday, August 8th from 3:00PM to 4:00PM. This event is a fantastic opportunity for parents and students to familiarize themselves with our Petworth community, meet dedicated staff members, and learn about the programs and resources available to support your child’s educational journey.

The Center City PCS Petworth campus hosted a collaborative 8th Grade Day of Community Service. The students earned two hours of SERVICE and were able to pack over 175 lunches that will be donated to our local homeless shelters!
The students did an amazing job and we are so proud of them! We hope to continue to engage our students in experiences that reinforce the CCPCS Character, Excellence and Service Values!

Let's give a warm welcome to new CCPCS NoMa Campus Principal, Ms. Tracie Dow! Principal Dow has extensive experience in education, including two Masters degrees in Elementary Education and Education Administration, serving as an Instructional Coach, and Assistant Principal. We are excited for Principal Dow to join us as she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role at Center City PCS.
The Center City PCS 8th Grade Luncheon was a special event held to celebrate the achievements and successes of the graduating 8th-grade students. During the luncheon, students were recognized for their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments throughout their time at Center City PCS.
Students were presented with certificates of achievement and awards for various categories such as academic excellence, leadership, community service, and overall growth. Way to go scholars!
The FundEd Strategies team had an inspiring visit to the Makerspace at Center City Public Charter Schools, where they saw firsthand how this innovative 20,000-square-foot facility will serve 1,400 Center City students and support thousands more across Washington, DC. This dynamic project is set to positively impact and reimagine K-12 instruction and learning in DC, fostering creativity, collaboration, and essential STEAM skills. Thank you, Russ and Patrice, for providing a wonderful tour, the FundEd team is honored to support this project!

All Center City campuses will be closed for Spring Break on Monday April 15th to Friday April 19th. Please note that Monday, April 19th is an asynchronous learning day. Students will receive packets before leaving for spring break. They will be required to return the completed packet within three days of returning to school after the break.

Our CCPCS Brightwood campus 2nd graders celebrated the end of their plant unit of study with a pollinator party! They ate snacks with seeds, drew models to show a plant's cycle, observed specimens collected by students and teachers, and more!

We have some exciting progress on The Makerspace at Center City PCS! This will be a 20,000 square foot learning facility that will engage Center City students in interdisciplinary, curiosity driven, hands-on learning. This space will include a fully built out woodshop, media, technology and science labs, sewing and fabrication equipment and much more!

Our Center City PCS NoMa campus had a successful #MLKService Day2024! The NoMa campus was able to donate over 50,000 diapers and wipes for families with infants and toddlers for MLK Day of Service on January 15, 2024 in partnership with the Alpha Alpha Lambda Omega of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Center City PCS students connect with the Maker Girls program at the KID Museum. #Repost ・・・ “You can’t be what you can’t see.” Variations on this aphorism come up a lot in #STEM circles, as we seek to introduce young people to inspiring figures who reflect kids’ identities, backgrounds, personal stories, interests, and career aspirations. This is precisely the purpose of KID Museum’s Maker Girls programs, where we connect young women who are exploring science, technology, engineering and math in their schools with accomplished female professionals working in those fields. The latest program, held March 28 to celebrate #WomensHistoryMonth, connected more than 40 girls from Washington, DC, campuses of @centercitypcs with female technologists working in @google’s DC office.
