Center City Public Charter Schools Center City PCS has 6 campuses throughout Washington, D.C.: Brightwood, Capitol Hill, Congress Heights, Petworth, Shaw and Trinidad.

Center City PCS teaches a broad liberal arts and humanities curriculum to students in PreKindergarten through Eighth Grade. We believe, teach, and live Character, Excellence, and Service. We commit to the intellectual, physical, moral and emotional well-being of each scholar and believe every child can learn, lead and serve. Dr. Jennifer Norton, Director of Multilingual Supports, Alexis Fields, Associate Director of Student Support, and Sharon Maloney, ELD Teacher at Brightwood and District Teacher Leader, led an impactful and engaging session at the 2026 WIDA Annual Conference in St. Louis this week. They led participants through high-leverage instructional strategies that use movement and objects to bring learning to life for multilingual learners who also have IEP’s.

Center City Public Charter Schools did not originate from a single church. Instead, it was established in 2008 through the transformation of a network of seven inner-city Catholic elementary schools that had previously been operated by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington as part of the Center City Consortium.

Going into its second year, the Community Council at Center Center City PCS has been extremely intentional with ensuring that all expectations are being met and all voices are heard.

The six campuses of our network came together at the MLK Library in Washington, D.C for a day of community and collaboration. All staff members engaged in school-themed scavenger hunts, bingo, and more challenges. Most importantly, staff were given the opportunity to voice their perspectives to the Community Council.
