The Center City PCS Petworth campus had two exceptional speakers visit students during Black History Month.

The first speaker was Brian Keith Harris, the author of the bestselling book "I Am My History". Mr. Harris delivered an engaging and inspiring presentation that left a lasting impact on our students. The kids were captivated by his storytelling and powerful message, and it was truly a memorable experience for everyone involved.

Secondly, the Petworth campus had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Willie Mackey Pearl King, one of the last living colleagues of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mrs. King helped pen and publish all of his letters from Birmingham jail.

We would like to congratulate our Center City PCS Congress Heights campus for being selected as a 2024 Bold Performance School!

Bold Performance Schools are the DC schools that boldly support priority students — students designated as at-risk, students with disabilities, and students of color — to reach academic success. Congress Heights amongst 11 other incredible schools are proving what’s possible, with proficiency rates 13.5 points higher than schools serving similar levels of priority students. They also are improving 3-4x faster than the District average since the pandemic.

Center City PCS Congress Heights is the only campus in the city to win this award every year. This is an amazing accomplishment and we are extremely proud!
