In yet another attack against sportsmen and women, the Biden Administration recently confirmed that the Department of Education is withholding funding from schools with shooting sports activities in their curriculum.
I, alongside other Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus leaders, am calling on the Department of Education to reconsider its actions before these programs are delayed or canceled for the school year.
I've already signed on to legislation, the Protecting Hunting Heritage and Education Act, that will ensure this does not happen again.

I recently visited Bakelite Synthetics in Crossett to tour the plant and hear from the manufacturing professionals on site. We discussed the supply chain issues they are facing for both trucking and rail distribution of their products. Discussions with industry professionals who have firsthand experience with supply chain challenges are essential to my ability to serve as a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
It was an honor to chair the first ever outdoor House Committee on Natural Resources GOP hearing in Yosemite National Park.
I can’t think of a more remarkable place to discuss proper forest management and conservation than in one of the Crown Jewels of our National Parks.
This summer heat is no joke, and when coupled with record-high gas and grocery prices, families are being forced to cut corners to afford to stay cool.
My bill, The Lower Energy Costs Act, is projected to reduce energy costs for American families by approximately $795 annually. The Senate needs to follow the House’s lead and pass this legislation so hardworking Americans don’t have to worry about how they will afford to keep their families cool at home this summer.
I encourage all Arkansans trying to beat the heat to drink plenty of water, check on your neighbors during hot days, monitor the local news for health and safety updates, and rest assured that House Republicans will continue working to lower energy costs at home.

This week, Arkansas Nuclear One celebrated 50 years of operation. Since the 1970s, Arkansas Nuclear One has provided clean, reliable power for the state. I had the opportunity to visit the site, which employs a thousand Arkansans, and saw firsthand the source of 70% of Arkansas' clean energy.
Nuclear energy is a key piece of the clean energy puzzle, and I'm proud to have Arkansas Nuclear One in the 4th District as a prime example of that.

A couple weeks ago, the House voted to pass historic, bipartisan legislation to reauthorize the FAA and support airports like Hot Springs Memorial Field. Yesterday I visited Memorial Field and met with Don Rowlett, the new Airport Manager to discuss improvements that can be made to the airport to better serve Hot Springs travelers.
AM radio plays an essential role during large-scale emergencies, especially in rural areas where people spend a lot of time in their cars and have unreliable cell reception.
I applaud the Senate Commerce Committee for advancing the bipartisan, bicameral AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act yesterday. I’m proud to lead this effort in the House with my friend Rep. Gottheimer, and I look forward to getting this bill across the finishline.
Today I honored the life and legacy of Mrs. Mary Fisher on the House Floor. Mary had a heart for community service and her mark on the 4th District will not be soon forgotten. My prayers go out to her loved ones during this time.

I'm saddened to hear that former state legislator and Arkansas Treasurer Mark Lowery has passed away. I enjoyed serving with Mark in the State House and appreciate his service to our state. My prayers go out to his family, friends, and all Arkansans mourning this loss.
It was great to meet with the Arkansas FFA state officer team today while they are in DC for the annual State Officer Summit. They are the leaders of Arkansas FFA, and it was a pleasure to meet with them. We discussed the upcoming Farm Bill and their college plans - it makes me think back to when I was the Arkansas FFA President.
My roots in FFA run deep, and I am proud to be an alumnus of this great organization. I'll always remain dedicated to supporting FFA in the name of advancing agriculture and expanding opportunities for our youth.

Veterans are highly trained professionals with the skills, experience, and dedication that make them great candidates for a wide range of jobs. Yet, 33% of veterans are underemployed, meaning they do not have enough paid work or are not doing work that aligns with their skills and abilities.

Today I announced the introduction of the Child S*x Crimes Victims Protection Act - legislation that will significantly reform the way juvenile victims of s*x trafficking and abuse are sentenced if they fight back against their traffickers.
Right now, the U.S. is one of the only countries in the world that allows s*xually abused children who retaliate against their abusers to grow up in prison with no hope for parole or rehabilitation.
Oftentimes, politics can be a disunifying pursuit. This bill is a chance for Republicans and Democrats to work together on something that is larger than ourselves. We cannot turn our backs on the children of our country, and we cannot allow those who experience unimaginable circumstances to be left behind and forgotten because they chose to fight back.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently announced a rule that would ban the use of cost-effective lead ammunition and fishing tackle on eight national wildlife refuges. It's arguably a broad attack on hunters' and anglers' ability to enjoy the great outdoors.
Hunting and fishing are two of my favorite pastimes - and I know many Arkansans feel the same way. That's why it's a shame that the USFWS would propose a rule that would create barriers to using cost-effective ammunition and fishing tackle.

This legislation makes significant advancements to support the El Dorado, Hot Springs, Texarkana, and Mena airports and supports the agricultural aviation industry in the 4th District. The passage of this bill is critical to American aviation safety and infrastructure and will ensure that the U.S. remains a global leader in aviation.

The Army-Navy Hospital in Hot Springs is rich with history, and it's a shame that it's become a victim of time, vandalism, and unauthorized access. For too long, there hasn't been a clear-cut path for the future of this site that holds so much value to not only Hot Springs, but the entire state of Arkansas.
I introduced an amendment that was included in the NDAA that will give the Department of Defense authority to provide grant funding to the Army-Navy Hospital for on-site security and other site-planning activities.
This is the next step in a whole of government approach to properly secure the site and put it on a clearer path to more beneficial use in the future.
Yesterday I joined the Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation on the National Mall for their annual 'Ruck the Reserve' to honor the service and sacrifice of all who have served in the Global War on Terrorism.
The FY24 NDAA will ensure the U.S. remains a global defense leader and supports those in the Natural State who work in national defense industries. For that, I was proud to vote in favor.
WASHINGTON - Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2024.
My office finally got an interim response to my inquiry about the rainbow flags being flown at VA facilities.
It's obvious from the lack of sentence structure, punctuation, and overall lack of attention to detail in their response that this issue is a very low priority to the VA.
I responded back to Secretary McDonough and made it clear that my communications to the Appropriations Committee and my colleagues in the House will be better articulated when I lobby to cut funding for the political staff who are advocating and implementing political issues in what should be an apolitical agency.
The Cass Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center sets up young adults with a bright path for their futures. Here, young people can gain the skills and resources they need to succeed in the workforce.
It was great to visit their facilities and see the various trades available to learn like carpentry, brick laying, culinary arts, heavy equipment operations, forestry conservation, fire fighting, painting, and more. It was a pleasure to meet with all the students and instructors and learn more about the great work they’re doing at Cass Job Corps CCC.
I had a great time sitting down with folks for lunch in Clarksville. Being able to hear their stories and listen to their thoughts and concerns was such a valuable experience.

My summer interns had a friendly competition to see whose speech I would read on the House floor. The winner was Emily for her speech on my bipartisan legislation, the 21st Century Dyslexia Act, which ensures children with dyslexia are never left behind. Well done, Emily!
I stand with the farmers and ranchers of Arkansas who are being crushed by spiking inflation. This year’s drought, which hit farmers hard, couldn’t be stopped, but the bad policy that has led to suffocatingly high input costs can. This farming year cannot be salvaged for many, but I urge the Biden Administration and Congressional Democrats to immediately reverse course and end the high spending and overregulation that led to these economic conditions.

Today, I spoke on the House floor against the Financial Services Racial Equity, Inclusion, and Economic Justice Act. This legislation is billed as a way to correct social injustices, but in reality, it distracts the Federal Reserve from its true purpose of controlling inflation. Democrats also blocked my amendment from being voted on, which would have helped low-income, rural, and minority consumers.
Each Memorial Day, Americans look forward to a weekend filled with friends and family. The day off work should be enjoyed, and the time with loved ones should be cherished, but as a country, we must not forget the true reason for the holiday.
This week, WWII veteran Bob Ross from El Dorado came to the U.S. Capitol to be awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, the first time the honor has been given to the U.S. Merchant Marines. Mr. Ross joined the U.S. Merchant Marines at 14 years old, after the bombing of Peral Harbor. 1 in 26 merchant mariners were killed in action in WWII, the most of any branch. I am honored to have witnessed history as Mr. Ross was given the Congressional Gold Medal and to thank him in person for his service defending our freedom. Hear his story below.
President Biden, in a recent speech, refused to take any responsibility for the inflation crisis marking his presidency. In reality, inflation hit its stride the moment he became President when he pushed for record spending and enacted smothering regulations
If inflation is not caused by President Biden’s spending, as he claims, then that’s news to his own Treasury Secretary.

I spoke on the House floor urging permitting and regulation reform. “For years, it has been clear to rural America that our permitting process is broken. While well-intentioned, it is doing more harm than good. The current system is complex, burdensome, and ineffective, yet the political elite in Washington, D.C., wonders why our farmers, ranchers, and energy producers struggle.”
