Students across the Big First have two weeks left to apply for a nomination through my office to a U.S. Service Academy. It is one of my greatest honors as a Member of Congress to nominate the next generation of Kansas leaders to join the ranks of our nation’s best and brightest military leaders.

The honor of attending a U.S. Service Academy comes with the obligation and commitment to serve in the Armed Forces for a minimum of five years upon graduation.

During National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, we recognize the hardworking men and women who keep Kansas and America moving.

Trucking supports roughly 84,400 Kansas jobs, and nearly half of Kansas communities rely exclusively on trucks to move their goods. Thank you to the professional drivers who connect our farms, ranches, businesses, and communities to markets across the country.

Today, we remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost in the deadliest terrorist attack in our nation’s history. On the 25th anniversary, let us honor their memory, the heroism of our first responders, and the brave men and women who answered the call to serve in the aftermath.
