Cheer on your York Police Officers as we carry the torch for Special Olympics from the Kittery line to the Ogunquit line along Route 1! Our run will start at about 7:30am when our friends at Kittery Police Department pass the torch to us!

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a nationwide (and worldwide) tradition where law enforcement officers carry the “Flame of Hope” through their communities to support Special Olympics athletes.

Here in Maine, officers from agencies across the state come together to run different legs of the torch, ultimately delivering it to the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics Maine Summer Games. We’ll be running the Flame of Hope from the Kittery line to the York line along Route 1!

Come out and cheer us on when you see us!

Congratulations to the graduates of the first ever York Police Department Citizens Police Academy!

Participants of this class walked away with a unique understanding and appreciation of our police department and our operations. Just as important are the relationships that were built between these community members and our officers.

We were blown away by this group’s commitment and enthusiasm to learn more about our department and policing in York. We are extremely proud of all of these individuals for taking part of our Citizens Police Academy!

Does a Citizens Police Academy sound interesting to you?! We will be hosting another Citizens Police Academy next year, stay tuned!
