The Financial Intelligence Department (FID) of the RMA recently conducted an awareness programme for Integrated Check Post (ICP) police personnel at various land-ports of the southern borders on cross-border transportation of physical currency and bearer negotiable instruments (BNIs).
The programme covered 17 Integrated Check Posts and 278 officials across southern border regions including Phuentsholing, Gelephu, Samdrup Jongkhar, Nganglam, Panbang, Lhamoidzingkha, and Samtse.
Travellers entering or leaving Bhutan with cash or BNIs exceeding USD 10,000 are required to declare the amount at entry or exit points.
This initiative strengthens the effective implementation of currency declaration requirements and supports Bhutanโs efforts to combat money laundering and terrorism financing.
