Mr. Akio Yamaguchi, the Honorary Consul of Bhutan in the Tohoku Region of Northern Japan, called on the Prime Minister today.

The Prime Minister congratulated and thanked Mr. Yamaguchi on his appointment as the Honorary Consul. During their meeting, both sides discussed various matters of mutual interest.

The Prime Minister emphasized the critical role of the Honorary Consul in ensuring the welfare of the Bhutanese community in Japan and promoting Bhutan to Japanese travelers to boost tourism and cultural ties.

In Samdrup Jongkhar, the Prime Minister visited the Chirub Commercial Farms, a flagship partnership between the Department of Agriculture and De-suung.

These farms serve as national model sites for modern, precision, and climate-smart agriculture aimed at boosting Bhutan's food security and creating technology-driven opportunities for young farmers.

The Prime Minister met with the De-suups managing the farms, inspiring them to work hard to make this pioneering commercial agriculture initiative a model for the rest of the country.

The Prime Minister attended the Passing Out Parade of the first cohort of Gyalsung trainees of 2026 at Pemathang Gyalsung Academy in Samdrup Jongkhar, marking a significant milestone in Bhutan’s nation-building journey.

The ceremony celebrated the successful completion of training by the first cohort of 434 Gyalsups, who demonstrated discipline, unity, resilience, and a deep spirit of service to the Tsa-Wa-Sum. Their dedication reflects His Majesty The King’s vision of empowering Bhutanese youth through the Gyalsung programme.

During his address to the Gyalsups the previous day, the Prime Minister congratulated the graduates and commended them for their commitment and perseverance. He encouraged them to carry forward the knowledge, skills, and discipline gained through the training to become successful and responsible citizens.

The Passing Out Parade stands as a proud moment for the nation and a testament to the spirit, potential, and promise of Bhutan’s young generation.

Mr. Barghav Dasgupta, Vice President of the Asian Development Bank, called on the Prime Minister in Thimphu, last week.

The two sides discussed mutual areas of cooperation and expanding the scope of ADB’s support in Bhutan. The Vice President reaffirmed ADB's support in furthering Bhutan's development journey and the 10X economic vision.

The Prime Minister met with H.E. Shri Lakshman Acharya, Governor of Assam, and H.E. Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, at the Lok Bhavan in Guwahati yesterday.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed areas of mutual interest and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the close and enduring ties between Bhutan and Assam through enhanced friendship, cooperation, and people-to-people relations.

In the evening, the Government of Assam also hosted a Cultural Showcase and a State Banquet in honour of the Prime Minister.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will be meeting H.E. Shri Lakshman Acharya, the Hon’ble Governor of Assam, H.E. Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam and other senior leadership of the State Government.

The EU Ambassador to Bhutan, H.E. Mr. Hervé Delphin, called on the Prime Minister yesterday for his farewell visit.

Ambassador Delphin shared his deep gratitude to the Royal Government for the seamless cooperation during his time in office and reaffirmed that the European Union and its Member States will remain steadfast partners in Bhutan’s ongoing development journey.

In return, the Prime Minister expressed heartfelt appreciation for the nearly 60 years of bilateral relations between Bhutan and the EU. He highlighted how this enduring partnership has been instrumental in supporting the nation's socio-economic growth, guiding Bhutan all the way from a Least Developed Country to its proud graduation from the category.

Both sides discussed strategic ways to take these bilateral ties forward, exploring new and innovative areas for future collaboration.
