U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Europe District teammates recently joined partners from the U.S. Embassy and local leaders to celebrate completed renovations at Dr. Ibrahim Rugova Lower Primary School in Obiliq, Kosovo.

The renovations were part of U.S. European Command (EUCOM)'s Humanitarian Assistance program and Europe District managed the project in close partnership with the U.S. Embassy Pristina, Kosovo. The renovations both improve the spaces for learning and building infrastructure while also expanding the facility's capacity for students.

Teammates from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers participated in Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Europe’s “STEMposium” event earlier this week, assisting STEM students from across Europe with their team projects and engaging them in the STEM career fair.

The annual event brings together more than 100 students from all DoDEA Europe high schools to Wiesbaden, Germany for a week of engaging in hands-on activities while gaining a deeper understanding of science and its real-world applications.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers North Atlantic Division Commander Col. John Lloyd represented at the recent U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) Component Commanders and Senior Enlisted Leaders event in Naples, Italy.

He joined representatives from various U.S. military branches and commands in Europe and Africa that gathered to coordinate military strategies throughout Africa.

In addition to Europe District’s capabilities and construction mission in several countries through Africa, many teammates from across the enterprise like U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Institute for Water Resources, U.S. Army Geospatial Center and more bring a wide range of capabilities supporting AFRICOM and other stakeholders and partners in Africa.

The new lodge will nearly double the existing lodging capacity and include modern amenities, like a fitness center, improved fire protection and more than 20 extended stay rooms!

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is working closely with the German construction administration, Defense Health Agency and other partners to deliver the new facility. Once complete, the new hospital will replace the nearby Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and 86th Medical Group Clinic, providing service members and their families with modern, world-class healthcare facilities.

📸 Check out pics of progress on construction of new facilities at Air Base 71 near Campia Turzii in Romania where the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Europe District is managing more than $100 million in construction in close partnership with our Romanian allies and our U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa and U.S. Embassy Bucharest partners.

“The projects here at Air Base 71 and across Romania contribute to the readiness and responsiveness of U.S. forces in Europe, reinforce the collective defense and security of NATO allies, and support of our shared goals of regional security.” - USACE Europe District Chief of Engineering and Construction Roger Vogler at a ceremony in September at the base celebrating three recently completed projects.

Construction is funded by U.S. European Command (EUCOM) through the United States’ European Deterrence Initiative.
