Please note that from 1 July 2026, the online Film and Photography Permit application system will no longer process new applications from applicants with outstanding Exit Reports.

To avoid delays on upcoming productions, ensure that all outstanding Exit Reports are submitted and uploaded before applying for new permits.

We encourage all filmmakers and facilitators to review their records and remain compliant to ensure a seamless application process.

Introducing One More Win, an NFC-funded short film, by Jo-Neillan Isaaks.

The film follows Eric, a young man whose involvement in sports betting leads him into a series of challenges that test his judgement, resilience, and sense of self. Beneath the surface, however, lies a story about ambition, pressure, perseverance, and the pursuit of a better future.

Inspired by realities familiar to many young people, One More Win explores the hope that keeps people moving forward even when circumstances feel uncertain. It is a depiction of how there is a person searching for opportunity, purpose, and a chance to change their story behind every struggle.

Let us continue to support emerging filmmakers who are telling authentic stories that resonate with audiences and spark meaningful reflection.

The Namibia Film Commission’s Regional Film Premiere and Community Engagement Roadshow made its way to the Omaheke Region, where filmmakers and film enthusiasts came together to strengthen the future of storytelling in the region.

The stakeholder engagement session in Gobabis drew an eager group of local filmmakers who welcomed the Commission’s outreach efforts and called for increased training and capacity-building opportunities. Encouragingly, participants expressed their readiness to organise and formalise themselves into a regional filmmaking community, underscoring a shared commitment to growing the industry from within.

The engagement was followed by community screenings in both Gobabis and Chaka Ben-Hur, where residents gathered to enjoy a curated selection of proudly Namibian films funded by the Namibia Film Commission. The warm reception from both audiences reaffirmed the importance of taking local stories directly to local communities.

As the roadshow continues across the country, the Namibia Film Commission remains committed to nurturing talent, creating opportunities, and ensuring that every region has a place in Namibia’s evolving film landscape.

The Namibia Film Commission invites qualified and experienced professionals to submit an Expression of Interest to serve as Readers and Judges for the 2026/2027 Production Funding Submissions.

We are looking for professionals with strong analytical and writing skills, knowledge of film financing and development, and experience in evaluating creative, film, or artistic work. Applicants must have at least three years of relevant professional experience and be committed to confidentiality, fairness, and ethical conduct.

Interested applicants are encouraged to review the full requirements and submission details in this regard.

This inspiring documentary follows an innovative arts-based emotional development programme designed for neurodivergent adolescent boys at Pioneers Boys' School. Through creative expression, the programme creates opportunities for emotional growth, self-awareness, confidence, and meaningful personal development.

Mindful Maestros shines a light on the transformative power of the arts and the positive impact that creativity can have on young people's lives. It also highlights the importance of creating supportive spaces where every individual can be seen, heard, and empowered to thrive.

Set against the vast landscapes of the Namibian desert, Connections follows a lone wanderer on a relentless search for a stable television signal. As he journeys across salt pans and mountain ridges, his pursuit of connection gradually reveals something much deeper: our shared human desire to belong, to be seen, and to find one another.

Through striking visuals, music, movement, and minimal dialogue, the film explores themes of isolation, connection, and the unexpected ways people can find meaning in one another.

We are proud to support filmmakers who continue to push the boundaries of storytelling and showcase the creative possibilities of Namibian cinema.

Presenting the premiere of Okuruwo – The Tale of the Holy Fire, funded by the Namibia Film Commission and directed by Elizabeth Hamukwaya.

This short film is inspired by the ancestral traditions of the Himba and Herero people. Exploring the spiritual rupture that occurs when cultural traditions are abandoned in favour of modernity.

At the heart of the story is the sacred fire, the okuruwo, a living connection between the ancestors and the present generation.

The NFC remains proud to explore the richness of Namibia’s cultural heritage for present and future generations.

Okuruwo will premiere on the 18th of June in Opuwo as part of the NFC Film Premiere & Engagement Roadshow.
