BUILT HERITAGE APPLICATION FOR ERF 8685 & 356 A, THE PRINZESSIN RUPPRECHT HEIM, SWAKOPMUND
The NHC hereby gives notice, in accordance with Section 49(1)(a)
of the National Heritage Act, 2004 (Act No. 27 of 2004), that it has received an application for proposed alterations and additions to the existing building situated on Erf 8685 & 356 A, Anton Lubowski Avenue & Bismarck Street, Swakopmund.
HERITAGE SIGNIFICANCE
The Prinzessin Rupprecht Heim, currently operating as a hotel and old-age home facility, was originally constructed in 1902 as a military hospital. The building was subsequently donated to the Bavarian Federation of the Women’s Association of the German Red Cross.
PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT
The applicant proposes to upgrade and improve the existing old-age home facilities while retaining the historic character of the site.
The building plans are available for public inspection at the following locations from 08h00 to 17h00, Monday to Friday:
