Tis' the season for giving!

It's not quite Thanksgiving yet, but I have to say today how thankful I am for all of the support I've received as I start and run this nonprofit. The board members not only give generously of their time and expertise, but they are a 100% financially giving board! We have also had funding from National Military Family Association and most recently Publix for a class in 2021, and generous and recurring donations from individual supporters. Running a nonprofit is only possible with help from you all, so I thank you for making it possible to run our STEAM and Maker education programs!

Brad Keselowski's Checkered Flag Foundation

"Brad Keselowski and the Checkered Flag Foundation understand that it's not just that service member, but it's the entire family who makes those sacrifices, and it's that whole family we need to celebrate." - Besa Pinchotti, National Military Family Association

We are thankful for what our friends at National Military Family Association do to support military members and their families, so much so that our hope is to also recognize these heroes in unique ways. That's why we invite you to share the names of military family members to be included on the 2021 Autotrader #Tribute2Veterans scheme. Help us honor them by sharing their name: https://bit.ly/2IdIMzx

Many military families are struggling in the era of Covid

Before COVID, the DoD said military spouses faced a 24% unemployment rate; the coronavirus has compounded that.

“We’re taking a thoughtful approach to comprehensive legislation and working to get the needle moved on the incredibly high unemployment rate,” – NMFA

A song tribute to all Veterans. We may be from different hometowns but we all share the belief that our country is sacred and we need to honor those who have sacrificed to protect our freedom. Song written by two Veterans of the Vietnam Era Michael Hager & Michael Sanders.
Opportunity for Veterans! New Musicals Inc (NMI) is adapting veteran's stories into ten-minute musicals to be filmed as part of a web-series to honor veterans. Veterans whose stories are selected for development will receive a $1000 honorarium and hold on to the rights of their stories. Don't let the "musical" aspect dissuade you. NMI just needs a compelling story from your military background – just one story – not a compilation -- and they will bring a composer, lyricist, and professional actor together to turn it into song. They will also welcome you into the collaboration process if you want to be included on the creative side. See the link for info and a very short video that explains the project. Deadline is November 20. www.nmi.org/veterans

Hello everyone! I'm on the team of a new, and FREE, resource for military families (active duty, spouses, retired) who have a service or skill to sell. This includes any business (photography, sewing, tutoring, etc.). LineCrew (linecrewteam.com/) is an app (launched this spring) and they are looking for new CrewMembers to build their nationwide directory. It is another support and resource for people when they PCS and have to build a new customer base in a new location. Please take a look, sign up, and pass it along to anyone who would find it helpful! If you'd like to be featured in our CrewMember spotlights https://blog.linecrewteam.com/, just DM me! Also, free. 😊

I was working in the Public Affairs Office of the US Consulate General in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. (I'm a Canadian, now married to a US Air Force Veteran and living in Colorado Springs) The US Ambassador to Canada was getting on an air-plane going back to Ottawa, to head back to the US Embassy. The Consulate staff were working on stopping his air-plane from taking off (which it succeeded), since we didn't know if there were specific targets. I had a digital video conference that morning on Boarder issues with Canadian representatives and Washington, which I obviously had to cancel. Our mostly Canadian consulate staff went home in shock, I joined the US Ambassador(Paul Cellucci), and the US Consul General (Roy Chevera) at the Consulate residence for press assistance. American Oil companies in the city shut down, some of the buildings their offices were in also shut down. I remember being overwhelmed by the general concern by Canadians for the United States. Any petty political disagreements were forgotten. The unity by Canada, and the world for the United States was present. The unity amongst Americans, no matter the political party, was present. A climate so very very different from today. The empathy that people had for one another on this tragic day I don't see today. A very popular Canadian National News announcer (Lloyd Robertson) had mentioned that 'this was a day of reflection, to think about how our lives can change, and end in an instant.' Change in a nation begins with each and every one of us. How we treat one another, strangers, and foreigners. This reflects the image of a nation. From changing ourselves we influence our children, then our communities, then our cities and our states. One step at a time. We do this through educating ourselves and then others, in a respectful way. Often times people don't understand that their words hurt, yelling at them in response, and destroying their businesses won't provide a positive understanding. Change, kindness and respectful conversation will. I have learned a lot about the United States from my work with the State Department and the US Consulate Calgary, but 9-11 changed me, as I'm sure most people. Let us not forget.
On September 11, 2001 my USA Army son David Ellsworth with his unit was landing in Egypt to begin a Bright Star training event with Egyptian forces. The info his unit was receiving about the attacks in the USA they believed were part of the training event scenario. It was only later that they learned the attacks were real. Those attacks changed the planned training event.
I am a USMC vet and I am paying it forward. If there are any veterans that are either active duty or discharged I am on a mission to train 10,000 of them for free and to get them into dignified income soon as possible, that means two times as much money as they’re making right now, I’m serious and I’m an ex marine and I hate how veterans are treated in this country Pass this link along. https://www.facebook.com/groups/usarmedforcesfreereigroup/?ref=share
