Genesee County MI Young Life

Genesee County MI Young Life More than 50 years of fun, adventure, friendship & sense of significance in Genesee County! Our YL family, young & old, meets here! "Like" us & pass it on!

Every adolescent will have the opportunity to meet Jesus Christ and follow Him.

Every adolescent will have the opportunity to meet Jesus Christ and follow Him.

Mission: Introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith. We accomplish our mission by ... Praying for young people. Going where kids are. Building personal relationships with them. Winning the right to be heard. Providing experiences that are fun, adventurous and life-changing. Sharing our lives and the Good News of Jesus Christ with adolescents. Inviting them to personally respond to this Good News. Loving them regardless of their response. Nurturing kids so they might grow in their love for Christ and the knowledge of God's Word and become people who can share their faith with others. Helping young people develop the skills, assets and attitudes to reach their full God-given potential. Encouraging kids to live connected to the Body of Christ by being an active member of a local congregation. Working with a team of like-minded individuals — volunteer leaders, committee members, donors and staff.

What is happening with Club this fall?
Will there be Campaigners?
Do we have dates for Fall and Winter Weekends?

YES we are planning to meet IN EVERY WAY WE CAN according to the State guidelines and regulations during this COVID-19 pandemic! We are holding all plans loosely, knowing they could change at any time as we have seen throughout the summer. Dates and locations for all activities are still being decided! We will post them here and on our website when we confirm. Our leaders, however, always provide the most direct access to up to the minute details. Please feel free to contact them at any time.

We DO want you to know that Young Life is taking the health and safety of EVERYONE VERY seriously! We want all of our opportunities to take place in the best possible space and time while also committed to the desire for fun and meaningful interactions. We take none of this lightly - and are in constant prayer for guidance.

To date, this is our commitment to our families:
Group Size Limitations
In accordance with the current “large gathering” definition of the State of Michigan, this means 10 people max indoors, 100 people max outdoors.

Food
Foods served at events will be prepackaged, or purchased from food distributors or restaurants, at the present time. This means even home-baked cookies, snacks, etc. are not permitted to be distributed at events.

Masks
Masks must be worn indoors at all times by all participants - this is true even when there is adequate space to remain 6 feet apart. Masks must also be worn in vehicles when any passengers are present. While this is not mandatory by state or local regulations, YL should be able to provide masks to any kids who arrive without one.

Transportation
A parent or guardian must complete a transportation permission form in order for Young Life staff or volunteers to transport students to or from YL activities. This form must be signed before transportation may be provided. Leaders will have hard copies of the form with them in their vehicles, but we strongly encourage the forms be filled out asap by following this link and printing it out for your sons and daughters to turn into their leaders.
https://staff.younglife.org/Mission-Services/Corporate-Insurance-and-Risk-Management/Pages/Transportation-Waiver.aspx

Where possible, we encourage parents or guardians to transport kids to YL events. Parents may coordinate transportation with other parents in their community at their discretion. Please keep in mind that masks must be worn by every individual in a vehicle while driving students.

Please note:
• YL requests that students & volunteers who are not feeling well, who are experiencing symptoms for the flu or COVID-19, who are at a higher risk for severe illness, or who have come in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days, to please stay home.
• YL encourages kids that attend any activities to take steps to stop the spread of germs.
• YL will make sanitizing products and/or hand washing available at every activity.
• YL will thoroughly clean meeting locations, including high contact surfaces and objects which will be cleaned repeatedly.
• YL will only meet in locations that provide adequate space to ensure appropriate social distancing (at least 6 feet between meeting participants.) IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO OFFER SPACE FOR INDOOR OR OUTDOOR GATHERINGS, PLEASE LET US KNOW! Finding adequate space for our indoor and outdoor activities is presenting a challenge.

Lastly, it is imperative to stay connected with all local guidance as rules/regulations are frequently changing. We will post these guidelines and any changes to the rules/regulations on our social media pages and on our websites.

Please keep up to date on our activities on our social media pages as well as through our leaders meeting regularly with your sons and daughters.

If you have any questions, please let us know!

THANK YOU to everyone who has provided a memorial gift in honor of the late Brent Zendler. Brent is the son of Missy and Bob Zendler, both long time members of Young Life Genesee County’s family. Brent and his brother, Nick, also were active in Young Life through the years; Brent most recently as a Young Life leader.

Brent died Aug 3 and his family designated Young Life Genesee County as the recipient of memorial gifts in lieu of flowers. To date, nearly $3,000 have been given in Brent’s memory - and we are so bittersweet by the generosity - because we would much rather have Brent with us. His laughter. His contagious smile. His big love

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!We are SO BLESSED by the generosity of our YL family and friends!

We will never forget Lexi...
Lexi was smart
and sweet.
She was kind
and brave
and bright.
Our Young Life family feels so blessed to have known her,
to see her smile light up a room,
to hear her laughter.
She knew that Jesus loves her unconditionally.
We find comfort in the knowledge that we will see her again one day.
We offer our deepest condolences to Lexi’s family,
to Laci ❤️,
and to all of Lexi’s many,
many friends.
We are praying.
We will not stop.
And we are here to talk,
to pray,
to just be
with anyone who is missing her too. 💔

Young Life | State of the Mission May 8th, 2020

Young Life's State of the Mission. Please take a moment to see what is happening missionwide!

Around the world, Young Life staff and volunteers are adapting to a "new normal" and meeting the challenge head on. So while our methods might look different right now, our WHY remains the same. We're still introducing Jesus Christ to adolescents and helping them grow in their faith, and we'd like to show you how we're doing it.

We invite you to hear stories from around the mission, celebrate, laugh (after all this is Young Life), and discover new ways to be part of the great story the Lord is telling through the mission of Young Life.

Genesee County's #stayathomeylbanquet2020

WELCOME TO OUR HISTORIC #stayathomeYLbanquet!

Young Life Genesee County's banquet is a unique change from our annual May gathering that so many faithfully attend. This year WE WANT YOU TO STAY SAFELY IN YOUR HOME – yet also STAY with us. No chicken dinner. No need to get dressed up. What we truly need is your support - now more than ever.

Our annual banquet may be different this year but our mission remains the same - to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ. We are working very hard through the COVID-19 pandemic, using all of the virtual tools at our disposal. While the near future is still filled with uncertainty we stand firm knowing that Young Life will continue to be a powerful tool to reach our youth. We do know that kids need Jesus - during this time and for the rest of time. With your support we will continue to be here in Genesee County, our Young Life leaders will continue to walk by their side, and like Jesus, we can learn names and become friends in order to step into their lives and provide a meaningful confrontation with the God of the universe.

For those who have never attended our annual banquet, we invite you to partner with us to introduce unchurched youth to Jesus Christ. For those who have been partners for many years, THANK YOU! We sincerely hope you will continue to do so THIS YEAR ESPECIALLY. We need your help to keep this ministry sustainable in Genesee County.

Our video posted below, created by graduates Mikala Hunsinger and Meredith Good, is a compelling and heartwarming representation of our staff, volunteer leaders and committee of adults continuing to love our youth in Genesee County. We think it is moving and an inspiration – and we think you will enjoy it too.

We have never been more grateful for your investment in God’s eternal Kingdom where there is no virus, no loneliness, no crippling fear, and no grief over the loss of loved ones.

The following are ways you can partner with during this critical time to sustain our essential outreach to youth.

Please go to genco.younglife.org to make an online gift today! Please be sure to indicate that your gift is for MI26 Genesee County, MI.

Monthly and one-time gifts also can be made to Young Life Genesee County and mailed to:

Flint, MI 48507

If you would like to make a lifetime legacy gift to Young Life Genesee County, please let us know. Such gifts will sustain our ministry for many, many years to come.

Please know that every gift will be used to help provide all the tools we need to continue to bring the Truth about the unconditional love of Jesus Christ to teenagers throughout Genesee County.

Young Life exists in more than 90 countries and is supported by 4,000 staff members, more than 36,000 volunteer leaders and almost 16,500 local committee members.
