Genesee County MI Young Life

Genesee County MI Young Life More than 50 years of fun, adventure, friendship & sense of significance in Genesee County! Our YL family, young & old, meets here! "Like" us & pass it on!
Every adolescent will have the opportunity to meet Jesus Christ and follow Him.

Young Life is a world-class organization, faith-based non-profit for youth. Our staff and volunteers enter the world of kids, focusing on what matters to them — fun, adventure, friendship and a sense of significance. In doing so, we earn the privilege of talking to them about something that we think matters most of all — the truth about God and His unconditional love for them.

Mission: Introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith. We accomplish our mission by ... Praying for young people. Going where kids are. Building personal relationships with them. Winning the right to be heard. Providing experiences that are fun, adventurous and life-changing. Sharing our lives and the Good News of Jesus Christ with adolescents. Inviting them to personally respond to this Good News. Loving them regardless of their response. Nurturing kids so they might grow in their love for Christ and the knowledge of God's Word and become people who can share their faith with others. Helping young people develop the skills, assets and attitudes to reach their full God-given potential. Encouraging kids to live connected to the Body of Christ by being an active member of a local congregation. Working with a team of like-minded individuals — volunteer leaders, committee members, donors and staff.

We will never forget Lexi...
Lexi was smart
and sweet.
She was kind
and brave
and bright.
Our Young Life family feels so blessed to have known her,
to see her smile light up a room,
to hear her laughter.
She knew that Jesus loves her unconditionally.
We find comfort in the knowledge that we will see her again one day.
We offer our deepest condolences to Lexi’s family,
to Laci ❤️,
and to all of Lexi’s many,
many friends.
We are praying.
We will not stop.
And we are here to talk,
to pray,
to just be
with anyone who is missing her too. 💔

Young Life | State of the Mission May 8th, 2020

Young Life's State of the Mission. Please take a moment to see what is happening missionwide!

Around the world, Young Life staff and volunteers are adapting to a "new normal" and meeting the challenge head on. So while our methods might look different right now, our WHY remains the same. We're still introducing Jesus Christ to adolescents and helping them grow in their faith, and we'd like to show you how we're doing it.

We invite you to hear stories from around the mission, celebrate, laugh (after all this is Young Life), and discover new ways to be part of the great story the Lord is telling through the mission of Young Life.

Genesee County's #stayathomeylbanquet2020

WELCOME TO OUR HISTORIC #stayathomeYLbanquet!

Young Life Genesee County's banquet is a unique change from our annual May gathering that so many faithfully attend. This year WE WANT YOU TO STAY SAFELY IN YOUR HOME – yet also STAY with us. No chicken dinner. No need to get dressed up. What we truly need is your support - now more than ever.

Our annual banquet may be different this year but our mission remains the same - to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ. We are working very hard through the COVID-19 pandemic, using all of the virtual tools at our disposal. While the near future is still filled with uncertainty we stand firm knowing that Young Life will continue to be a powerful tool to reach our youth. We do know that kids need Jesus - during this time and for the rest of time. With your support we will continue to be here in Genesee County, our Young Life leaders will continue to walk by their side, and like Jesus, we can learn names and become friends in order to step into their lives and provide a meaningful confrontation with the God of the universe.

For those who have never attended our annual banquet, we invite you to partner with us to introduce unchurched youth to Jesus Christ. For those who have been partners for many years, THANK YOU! We sincerely hope you will continue to do so THIS YEAR ESPECIALLY. We need your help to keep this ministry sustainable in Genesee County.

Our video posted below, created by graduates Mikala Hunsinger and Meredith Good, is a compelling and heartwarming representation of our staff, volunteer leaders and committee of adults continuing to love our youth in Genesee County. We think it is moving and an inspiration – and we think you will enjoy it too.

We have never been more grateful for your investment in God’s eternal Kingdom where there is no virus, no loneliness, no crippling fear, and no grief over the loss of loved ones.

The following are ways you can partner with during this critical time to sustain our essential outreach to youth.

How to say good bye to dear friends?
How I wish we had more photos, more videos, more memories, more laughs, more moments with Fred Jones, an outstanding leader for our Flint Club. Fred went BIG when it came to introducing teenagers to the Truth about Jesus Christ and His unconditional love for them.

How do we wrap our hearts and minds around his passing due to COVID-19?
We all feel such a loss today with his passing. We cannot help but think of Janice and their families. Our prayers will not cease on their behalf.

Will you help us to honor his life as a laborer in the harvest (Luke 10:1&2)? Please post your favorite memory of Fred below, perhaps a photo that captures his smile and spirit.

❤️
That very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. And he said to them, “What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad. Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” And he said to them, “What things?” And they said to him, “Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, and how our chief priests and rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened. Moreover, some women of our company amazed us. They were at the tomb early in the morning, and when they did not find his body, they came back saying that they had even seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive. Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but him they did not see.

Please join us today as our Young Life and WyldLife staff pray and meditate on ‭‭Jude‬ ‭1:17-23‬.
❤️

But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit.

But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.

And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.

Please join the Young Life & WyldLife staff today as we pray and meditate upon Luke 6:27-36.

But I say to you who hear,
Love your enemies,
do good to those who hate you,
bless those who curse you,
pray for those who abuse you.
To one who strikes you on the cheek,
offer the other also,
and from one who takes away your cloak
do not withhold your tunic either.
Give to everyone who begs from you,
and from one who takes away your goods
do not demand them back.
And as you wish that others would do to you,
do so to them.
If you love those who love you,
what benefit is that to you?
For even sinners love those who love them.
And if you do good to those who do good to you,
what benefit is that to you?
For even sinners do the same.
And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive,
what credit is that to you?
Even sinners lend to sinners,
to get back the same amount.
But love your enemies,
and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return,
and your reward will be great,
and you will be sons of the Most High,
for he is kind to the ungrateful
and the evil.
Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

Happy Easter from Young Life Genesee County ❤️

04/09/2020

Please join our YL/WL staff today as we pray and meditate on Romans‬ ‭12:9-21‬.

What do these verses speak to you? ❤️

Let love be genuine.
Abhor what is evil;
hold fast to what is good.
Love one another with brotherly affection.
Outdo one another in showing honor.
Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.
Rejoice with those who rejoice,
weep with those who weep.
Live in harmony with one another.
Do not be haughty,
but associate with the lowly.
Never be wise in your own sight.
Repay no one evil for evil,
but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.
If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord."
To the contrary, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink;
for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head."
Do not be overcome by evil,
but overcome evil with good.”

We love you and continue to pray for you! ❤️
