Last week Friday, I had the opportunity to attend Ahuimanu Elementary School's May Day celebration. It was a beautiful morning filled with song and dance, and lots of smiles. Mahalo to the teachers and school staff for putting together such a wonderful program - the students did an amazing job!

The rain couldn't stop a great May Day celebration at Kaneohe Elementary School last week. At the last minute, the school moved their May Day program into the cafeteria due to the weather, and the students rose to the occasion and put on a great show. Mahalo to all of the teachers, administrators, students, and parents for their hard work.

Recently I attended the Windward Coast Emergency Preparedness Fair at Windward Mall. Thank you to the organizers for putting together this important event for our community. Hurricane season is from June - November and it is crucial to have an emergency plan and a 14-day supply kit, which includes essential items for all family members, including kūpuna, babies/children, and pets.

Thanks to all the mothers and mother-figures. Happy Mother's Day!

Today marked the last day of the 33rd Legislature, and the House of Representatives officially adjourned sine die. It was a successful legislative session, we worked to expand affordable housing opportunities, support Native Hawaiian families, protect essential social services, address workforce shortages, strengthen the State’s revenue base responsibly, and diversify our economy. I am also proud and excited to report that our advocacy on community issues, bills, and needs were heard by my colleagues, and House District 48 will be receiving millions of dollars in funding for our schools, infrastructure, and community organizations. We will share more about this legislative session and the positive impact on our community in the coming weeks.
